Our second collaboration with Brasserie St-Feuillien, Friendship Brew, is a Black Saison that blends European and American hops, Belgian yeast and a cache of secret spices. The aroma and flavors are enticing, with delicate fruitiness, subtle spice and rounded roast malt characteristics. Bottle conditioning provides lively carbonation and rich beer foam for a luscious body and a lean, dry finish.

Bottle. Black (duh), brown head, solid lacing. Aroma of dark cocoa, subtle licorice. Taste is similar, in a combo with coffee that really doesn’t work.

2012.12.24 - 12oz bottle (bottled 07/31/12) in pint glass. Pours dark with a one inch foamy tan head which settles to half a finger. Aroma is odd, hinting evergreen or pine without actually being pine. Taste is similar, odd unidentifiable spice. Certainly unique tasting, but not necessarily tasty enough to warrant future reruns. Certainly seems in the black saison ballpark, vaguely reminiscent of the mild creaminess of Four Witches.

Bomber from City Beer. Pours very dark brown with a 4 finger creamy/frothy tan head. Aroma is dark malt with a suggestion of ecucalyptus. Med body with frothy carb. There’s certainly an evergreen aspect. I’m still thinking eucalyptus. There’s fruit, and spice and maybe some resin hop. Very different set of flavors here. Finishes dry and very "wild".

2012-12-08. Black body with a nice tan head and lace. 3++ The flavour is a bit bizarre, with a very odd herbal character, and modest bitterness that grows as you go 6+ Sort of spicy herbal green aroma. 6+ Average plus bodied palate. Weird. On cask at Goodbar, Buffalo

D’ampolla. Aroma clarament “seasonal” que en sabor es més subtil. Cos mitjà. Lleugerament especiada. Espuma beix i persistent.

22-DEC-2012, bottle @home, from Ølbutikken. Dark brown almost black with huge lasting brown head. Aroma is herbal. Unpleassant herbal. Taste the same but also with roasted elements. Creamy, soft carbonation. Well made but I reslly do not like it.

I don't usually like to do this but..... This beer is unadulterated feces. Whatever herbs they put in here taste horrible. Like drinking dank, wet potpourri. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Nose is a milder version of the taste. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pitch black with a lush pillowy khaki head. Nose was funky and spicy, like an old dusty basement with tones of bone-dry trappist yeast, black peppercorn, an herbal spiciness, roast grains, and a subtlety of hay. Taste was a little peppery and a little too dry for my tastes. A little too roasty too. But in its own unique way, it comes together really well. Black grain roastiness combines with dry dusty basement yeast and cobwebs, spicy herbal bitterness, very earthy and spicy overall...Not sure what to think. Very well put together, but not for me.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours almost black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of dark malts and light fruits and spices that sort of come together to form a soap-like aroma, the spicy yeast, and floral and citrusy hops. Flavor the same. Average texture. An interesting beer, but the elements don’t blend well.
