COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our second collaboration with Brasserie St-Feuillien, Friendship Brew, is a Black Saison that blends European and American hops, Belgian yeast and a cache of secret spices. The aroma and flavors are enticing, with delicate fruitiness, subtle spice and rounded roast malt characteristics. Bottle conditioning provides lively carbonation and rich beer foam for a luscious body and a lean, dry finish.

Draft. Black body with a frothy beige head, lasting. Aroma of roasted grain, chocolate, herbal hops, mustiness, lacquer. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet, moderately bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Interesting nose. Bone dry and tart, but so much so, it’s not refreshing. The roast bitterness lingers well into the finish along with notes of char.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy dark brown toward black with 2-finger frothy, well-retained head. Nose is funky spicy, yeasty, blackberry, hops. Tastes yeasty, malty, spoicy, with floral, hoppy, plummy fruit, and nutmeggy spicy notes. Overall stays dry and funky, and finishes somewhat tart.

33 cl bottle @ Cask Pub & Kitchen, bottled 31.07.2012
Aroma has peppery spices and some earthy notes. Flavour has lots of earthy notes with peppery spices and slight sourness. A farmhouse saison with pepper, reminds me of some of the more weird fantome beers.

Bottle. A dark brown color with a lush lasting brown head. The aroma had a nice combination of porter + saison with a with fruity and mild spice aroma on top of the malty and chocolate base. I was pleased.

355ml bottle. Dark brown colour with huge, firm, frothy to creamy, lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Herbal and slightly soapy aroma with bath salt character has notes of rosemary, thyme, ginger, horseraddish in on treacle basis Taste is similarly herbal and soapy with decent dry, roasty dark malty undertones; lasting dry, minimally soapy finish.

Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma is spice, yeast and a bit of funk. Flavor is roast malt, spice, licorice, minty, with a bitter finish. Interesting, but not a beer that I greatly enjoyed.
