COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our second collaboration with Brasserie St-Feuillien, Friendship Brew, is a Black Saison that blends European and American hops, Belgian yeast and a cache of secret spices. The aroma and flavors are enticing, with delicate fruitiness, subtle spice and rounded roast malt characteristics. Bottle conditioning provides lively carbonation and rich beer foam for a luscious body and a lean, dry finish.

Visual: Pours ultra-dark brown with a superb foamy-fluffy head, great retention, sticky lacing, lots of bubbly activity. Nose: black cardamom, burnt cedar, peppermint, caramel malts. (4/10)-aromatic strength. Attack: creamy fizzy with an acidic backbone Mid-palate: medium sourness, (MAIN) toffee (7/10)-sweetness, peppermint, burnt-bitter roasted malts Finish: off-dry malts, grapefruit bitter & burnt bitter hopped finish. Summary: Not your typical Saison. This beer is COMPLEX and quite taxing on the palate. Definitely a "different" beer.

Despite the low individual rankings i liked it and thought it had a good concept. Problem is it has a bit of an antiseptic taste to it. Not sure which of the spices it is but historically through beers, i really don’t enjoy it.

Lagerboy (1230) - British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 26, 2013
Bomber. Hueless darkest dark brown, big rocky mocha head settles and mostly lasts. Aroma is yeasty, dark fruitiness. Bitter dark roast, chocolate malty taste, dark fruits, spicy, some caramel, with a PNW hop influence. Average carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. A somewhat confused crossover makes it: DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

Pour on tap at Rackhouse, dark reddish black pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of roast, coffee, dark cocoa, lots of dark fruits and molasses into some spice, yeast, some fruity orange and banana in there, hints of clove. Taste is a mix of roast, coffee and dark chocolate, hints of dark fruits into some fruit, dark fruit and some orange, slight earthy, spicy and yeasty notes finishing fairly bitter.
