Pours a dark chestnut brown color that’s completely opaque with a two finger, frothy beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. very good retention with streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Slightly earthy aroma with peppery spice, farmhouse funk, estery dark fruit and sweet malt notes. There’s a subtle grassy character that compliments the funky yeast along with some dark chocolate, licorice, raisin, fig and plum. I’m also picking up a subtle herbal/medicinal presence but it doesn’t interfere with the other elements.
Medium bodied with tight carbonation and a strong zesty spice flavor that lingers over the funk and sweeter notes into a dry finish. More syrupy/medicinal than the nose suggests with a slight cough medicine presence. Some dry, earthy hops up front complimenting the peppery spices. The farmhouse character is fainter than expected with slight grassy straw flavor before the malt and dark fruit notes come in to play. Hints of chocolate and toffee along with some grape, fig, plum and dark berries provide some needed sweetness. Pretty complex but the spice profile and medicinal flavors are a bit heavier than I prefer.

Despite the low individual rankings i liked it and thought it had a good concept. Problem is it has a bit of an antiseptic taste to it. Not sure which of the spices it is but historically through beers, i really don’t enjoy it.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber. Hueless darkest dark brown, big rocky mocha head settles and mostly lasts. Aroma is yeasty, dark fruitiness. Bitter dark roast, chocolate malty taste, dark fruits, spicy, some caramel, with a PNW hop influence. Average carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. A somewhat confused crossover makes it: DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)
