On tap at Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours blonde with a pretty white head and a floral citrus aroma. There is a hearty pale malt flavor with a moderately bitter finish.

(Draught) Pours a lightly hazy yellow body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit, and lemon. Flavor of grass, citrus, florals, caramel, and herbs with a dry, bitter finish.

Growler Fill from The Filling Station. This beer reminds me a lot of a light version of their Imperial IPA. It’s definitely a pale ale but leans ever so closely to an IPA. Big piney tropical notes on the nose, very hoppy aroma for a pale. Taste follows... lots of papaya, tropical fruit, bananas, and a semi-sweet malt back. Absolutely awesome pale ale.

On tap at Fresh Craft, I was surprised to see it and knew I better order it because I don’t think it is bottled. Light yellow orange color, good head. Smells like lemon oil to me, citrus hops. Taste is hoppy and yet is unmistakeable as a pale ale, the slight biscuit flavor from the malt lets me know. I liked this and it was clearly differentiated from an IPA to my taste buds. This was tasted at the brewery. The ale poured a clear gold color with a small head. Good ale but not special. The carbonation was soft with a smooth finish. This brewery I was able to take a tour. It is an impressive brewery and are looking at coming East. They would not say where.

9/29/12. On tap at Kickback’s. Light orange, maybe golden, pour with a nice khaki head. Light hop aroma with some citrus and tropical fruit aspects on top of a touch of pale malt backing. Slight bitter hop kick on the flavor, light citrus and fruitiness, with a solid malt backing. Not as bold or hoppy as I was expecting, but tasty enough.

Really tasty and satisfying pale ale, really refreshing as well. Full of hops and the bitterness at the start just wakes your mouth up a little. Great beer.

Growler, 9C. Clear pale amber with a large white head that’s never less than a coat. Aroma of kumquat, grapefruit, peach, passionfruit, gooseberries (maybe there are Kiwi hops in this), a little pine. Lightish body, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Some peach sweetness, no caramel, dry finish with firm bitterness. Pepper joins citrus and the pine is more prominent at the end. Straight ahead stuff and very well put together.
