30th Street Pale Ale is a strong pale ale that is well dry-hopped making it taste like an IPA by many hop head’s standards. The beer was brewed to recognize the synergy behind the craft beer culture on 30th Street in San Diego and was released for the Green Flash 6th Anniversary Celebration.

Bottle from Proof. Deep gold pour with a a frothy white head. Piney, citrus hop aroma with flowers and pale malts. Piney and floral on the front with a pale malt backing with a juicy pineapple and mango finish. Medium bodied smooth carbonation. Not too shabby.

In a flight on 13th March 2014 at the Back Bay Bar inside Wholefoods store in Newport Beach. Clear amber pour this hoppy brew hit the spot nicely. I don’t usually like over hopped or citrus flavoured brews but this seemed just about right in every aspect, certainly bitter but not overly so. One of the best Pale Ales I had during my whirlwind visit to California. My British palate really took to this and I would have had a pint, but I was on a mission to try as many beers as I could before the wife dragged me away (to a near-by Yard House).

Draught. Pours a dark yellowish orange color with white head. Fair hop character in the aroma, mostly piney earthy but quite a bit of malt aroma as well. Flavor is dominated by caramel, toasty malt...hops take a back seat. Slightly citrusy in the finish. Doesn’t drink bad but not well balanced.

Bottle. The smell is hops, floral, spicy, fruits, nice, and catty. The taste is pleasant, grass, florals, hops, malts, good. The look is clear, off white head, and golden in color.

22 oz bottle pours an orange color with a nice white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, grapefruit, more of an IPA than a pale ale. Medium bodied with a nice bitter finish.

Location: Draft at Hay Merchant, 4/22/14

Aroma: The aroms is grassy, with some citrus, and pale malts
Appearance: It pours a clear gold-orange color, with an off-white head, and heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is similar to the nose component-wise, with a clean and bitter finish
Palate: This one has a creamy feel, an average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty nice pale ale. It wasn’t an amazing beer, but it was a nice west coast hop feel to it. Solid stuff.

Bomber into a nonic pint. Pours deep gold with a thick pillow of white head. Huge aroma of grass, juicy tropical fruits, lemon zest. Taste is a bit thin, but big on the bitterness, juicy fruits, citrus. Sweet, sticky finish.
