30th Street Pale Ale is a strong pale ale that is well dry-hopped making it taste like an IPA by many hop headís standards. The beer was brewed to recognize the synergy behind the craft beer culture on 30th Street in San Diego and was released for the Green Flash 6th Anniversary Celebration.

Bottle. Pleasant if standard visuals, shiny, still and amber, the head is solid and white. Fun little aroma, too ... fresh and lightly citric, but not dominating in any way. Drinks with superbly exceptional balance ... firm but light malt backdrop, then a rollicking fresh hop blend that really makes this beer good. Just a twitch of fresh mown grass in the very finish. Excellent. (#5556, 6/16/2013)

On tap @ Stone. Pours a deep amber-red, clear with a nice white finger head which is very beautiful froth...lace is stringy and runs with only a little bit of stick. Aroma distinctly piney/spruce. Taste is true to nose, hop-forward, light-medium body, an excellent SD County Pale Ale. Finish is a tad astringent, but in a good way...saps the moisture in your mouth a tad, and you pucker at the bitter goodness. Very impressed with Green Flash these days...they know how to get mileage from their hops!

On tap at Streets for beer week! Pours with a thin white head that leaves a lot ifl lacing. Aroma is nice with the hops citrus. Flavor is nicely bittered, a little more than your average pale which is just right! Good malt balance on this one as well. Palate is medium bodied, not to thick, not too watery. Would be nice on a hot day.

Growler Fill from The Filling Station. This beer reminds me a lot of a light version of their Imperial IPA. Itís definitely a pale ale but leans ever so closely to an IPA. Big piney tropical notes on the nose, very hoppy aroma for a pale. Taste follows... lots of papaya, tropical fruit, bananas, and a semi-sweet malt back. Absolutely awesome pale ale.

Pours a light amber color with a white head. Citrus, floral, hop and malt aroma. Grapefruit, mango, orange, hop, floral, caramel and malt flavors. Medium body and carbonation. Floral, citrus hop finish. Solid.

A: A light golden-yellow color with a nice white foam. S: Some good citrus but more pine from the hops. Decent malt backing. T: Very nice hop fruitiness from this beer. Lots of citrus and some pineapple. Excellent piney bitterness is present as well, along with a decent amount of malt. M: On the lighter side of things in terms of body, but good carbonation helps out. D: Overall, a very solid and easy drinking pale ale.

Bottle, shared with Robbie, post-RBAG 2014. Light orange, frothy crown, nice lace. Smells like a fresh pine forest! Very aromatic piney hop profile, just beautiful, with a terrific malt structure that adds just enough sweetness. Long bitter finish. So good!

Nice brass-amber colored pour. The label on the bottle is pretty dull, and makes it look like a budget brew. But things get better from there. The aroma is excellent, with lots of flowers, pine, and citrus. The flavor is equally good - dry but balanced, with resiny hops, a little pith, and no off notes. There is a little limestone tingle in the finish, but it still goes down smoothly. The 30th Street in the name is in San Diego, but I first thought it was the one in Philly. A very good APA indeed.

On tap at Green Flash brewery. Man, green flash makes great IPAs, which are even better fresh. 30th st pale ale in particular is insanely drinkable and good with itís lower alcohol level. How wonderful it would be to have a keg of this at home. Itís funny how lighter beers never get the highest ratings, because they donít have extreme flavor profiles. Oh well. Still an excellent beer.

On tap at Ritual Tavern (30th Street, San Diego, CA): Right on target! Pour clear dark golden with a white one-finger head. Thereís a nice hoppy aroma filled with floral, grassy, and resiny notes. The flavor complements the aroma with added light fruity malts. Bitter finish. Coated mouthfeel and chewy throughout. Drinkability: Grassy. Pairing: Anchor Bar buffalo wings. Rebuy: Yes. #307 on 26022010, DG.
