Green Flash 7th Anniversary Belgian Red Rye Ale Here’s an adventurous brew for the adventurous craft beer drinker. Our 7th Anniversary brew brings you further American brewing innovation by using rye malt, German specialty malts, fresh American hops and Belgian yeast. This very unique beer is scrumptious with fruity yeast and spicy qualities from the rye and hops. Floral, spicy and citrusy hops lead you to a finish that is nice and clean considering how much flavor is packed into each glass. 5.7% ABV, 35 IBU

Draft at Brouwer’s, sometime late January ’10. Brownish red pour with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is a little crackery rye and sweet maltiness. Not a lot of yeast character for a Belgian, but it does have a nice rye malt presence on the flavor along with sweet caramel. Finishes fairly bitter with herbal, earthy hops, and is a bit too harsh on the alcohol bite for my tastes. Overall, this is a nice rye beer, but it’s not very Belgian tasting.

Draft at Blind Lady Ale House where it was shown on the board as an "imperial red" which is not a very accurate description. Pours a murky honey-amber-orange with small white head. Mildly hoppy aroma of soap, citrus, and flowers. The flavor has much of the same subdued hop tones along with some light spice. Readily drinkable but I was not particularly impressed.

Pours cloudy red/amber with a medium sized white head and some lace. Smells sweet and malty. Rye I’m sure as well, slight red fruit, slight caramel. Tastes very grainy and malty. Definitely can taste the rye, sweet, light caramel. Ok. Medium body, vibrant carbonation.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Spice and sweet malt aroma. Spice and sweet malt flavor with big grapefruit. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and earth lingers with spice and yeast.

On tap at Brouwer’s. Pours orange-red with a foamy beige head that leaves plenty of lace. Aromas of vinegar, candy sugar and apple. Taste is both bitter and bubble gum along with grassy hop. Interesting.

On tap at Malt and Vine. Red-brown with lacy off-white head. Smells fruity and bitter with floral undertones. Tastes of bitter rye bread, grapefruit, red fruits and light malt with a little yeast and spice in the finish. Body is mildly viscous and bitter. This was tasty but not amazing.

Nose of floral earthy hops, spicy rye notes, pepper, and some bubble gum. Reddish amber pour, frothy foamy head, sticky lace. A nice looking beer. Spicy rye, bittering hops, floral and light citrus notes. A hint dusty. Nice rye malt usage. Not overly belgian, just with a hint of sweetness from the yeast. Nice dry hoppy notes.

On tap at Stone. Hazy amber with a light head. Long lasting lace. Nose is sweet malt, yeasty and hoppy. Taste has a hidden Belgian style sweetness way at the end, that wasn’t obvious at first. Nice bitterness throughout.
