not too spicy a bit soapy. A touch spicy. Not so well balanced. Hops and rye don’t complement, they clash.

Well, they either did this one again, or it has been held on to for a few years and then put out again, since I just picked up a growler from Whole Foods. Pours a medium amber, a bit reddish, slight head. Aroma is peppery. Flavor is an interesting mix of peppery notes, with the pepper from the rye mingling with a peppery, earthy hop bitterness, and then finishing with strong black pepper phenols from the Belgian yeast. Lasting, aspirin like bitterness. Maybe they were hoping the phenols would fall back with some aging. Instead, apparently the fruit and citric notes fell out, but everything else stayed strong. Too bad, an interesting concept worthy of some experimentation.

10 oz pour at Tylers Apex. Good aroma, sweet. Fruity yeasty. Apple, caramel. Minor spice. On the oreagano coriander side. Clean reddish orange color, small head, no lace. Sweet flavor. Lighter body, creamy mouthfeel, spice finish , pretty tasty. Aroma best part., though solid overall. Plenty flavorful. Bit narrow on finish, sharp.spice .

Tap at Hamilton’s. Clear medium auburn with a small off - white head, down to a film within a few mins. Lots of fruity belgian yeast and banana in the nose, though not too sweet, just a little rye and toasted malt behind. Flavor is a little toastier, still plenty yeasty, clean ripe banana. Never sweet, dry finish, little rye. Bitterness at a 3. Soft light to moderate carbonation with a medium body. Quite tasty. Good job at a Belgian style.
