boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 7, 2009 Bottle... Poured deep ruby, with a light, beige head. Aroma of vanilla, oak and a dark, barley, cereal grain. Hoppy, but mostly dark sugar and fruit notes. Rich malts and figs too. This one got most of its bitterness from hops and not so much from any alcohol heat. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Nov 2, 2009 Botella, courtesy of Pinball. Pours a hazy deep amber colour, off-white medium head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy with fruits and malt. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet and hoppy with a good frutiness, a pleasant soft bitterness, some citrus and light alco touch. Pinball (2693), Allerød, Denmark Nov 1, 2009 dark amber, smooth offwhite daead.
aroma is hoppy, malty, sweet, very nice barley wine aroma - no hints of old beer, only good beer.
flavor is sugary, hoppy, well blended, sweet, nice composition.
this is a very good barley wine. tomthompson89 (1460), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 25, 2009 This was a nice one amber pour.. looks like cough syrup with some head. nose is sweet with booze and a good dose of hops. flavor follows through and gives a good hop wallop and booze finish. will buy another to age. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 21, 2009 2008 Bottle. Poured a dark brown/red body with thin head. Aroma is sweet candied fruit and malt. Flavor is slightly sweet, dried fruit, plum and some hops. Pretty good BW, now let’s see how this does with 3 years on it. 0o9i (326), Reno, Nevada, USA Oct 19, 2009 Bomber. Clear, amber body with a persistent ring of beige head and no lace. The aroma is unfathomably nutty, almost like an extract, but also contains notes of booze, plumb sauce, piny hops, and toffee expertly blended into a nutty-woody-barley-infused masterpiece. Body is medium-full with nice carbonation. The flavor is very nutty with toffee notes, plumb sauce, and a commanding hop presence in the form of pine. Needs to age 1 year or more. Consumed 6.21.2009 JohnC (2233), Mission Viejo, California, USA Oct 18, 2009 On tap at blue palms, this barley wine was a brownish red pour, that was sweet, caramelly and boozy. MoDog (910), Griffith, Indiana, USA Oct 16, 2009 22oz bomber (2009 vintage) served in a snifter. Murky, dark amber pour with a thick head of creamy beige foam. Heavy rings of lace were left around the glass. The aroma included pungent citrus, pine, thick caramel, and also some fruity notes. The flavor was full of dulled citrus hoppiness followed by heavy doses of caramel and toffee. Also some dark fruits and a little leather and alcohol warmth. Full-bodied and lightly carbonated. Pretty straintforward and a little rough around the edges.
