Beautiful pour with thick 2"+ head. Initial fruity aroma gave way to caramel and toffee notes. My first barley wine experience. Strong bitter flavors perfect for sipping on a cold night.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
orangeish hazy red color with a medium off-white head that fades somewhat quickly
aroma caramel malts, booze, resin hops and a bit of orane in the background
Taste: Less sweet as expected. Yes there is the sweetness of the caramel, but also quite a hoppyness (citrus+resin) and in addition there is the warming alcohol. Just when yu think the alcohol will burn true it does finish off smooth.fruity. Well done
Medium carbonation, thick body (still good drinkable !),syrupy texture, medium carbonation.

Bomber bottle poured a hazy orange hue w/ a medium tan head slowly diminishing to a ring. Moderate orange citrus aroma. Initial taste is moderate sweet w/ a bold bitter finish of long lasting duration. Tastes are orange, toffee, brown sugar, pine, and caramel. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and warm finish. Drinks more like an IIPA.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The color is a orangeish red color with a large off-white head that fades somewhat quickly, and the aroma combines the scents of caramel malts, booze, resin hops, and diacetyl. The taste has a complex flavor with a mild sweetness, slight bitterness, slight umami, and a touch of sourness, and the palate medium body, average carbonation, oily texture, and a slightly bitter finish.

Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a slightly hazy brownish orange with foamy light khaki head that dissipates into sticky lacing. Smells and tastes solid; caramel malt balanced by plenty of hops with some toffee notes too. Pleasant on the palate. A good example of the style.

Fine appearance and aroma. Nice palate, taste is sweet followed by a pleasant bitter aftertaste, but lacking in malty middle notes. Expected more from this.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Hoppy, earthy and sweet malts. Clear amber with little head. Tastes just like a concentrated west coast IPA.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle, 2011 vintage. Kind of clear brown / red color. Good thin light brown head. Leaves a few dots of lace. Definitely a lot of west coast hop character still very much alive in this brew. Tropical fruit, some grapefruit citrus. Moderate to bigger bitter taste overall, minimal sweet. Light bite in the finish. Bigger body, lightly slick. Lighter, kind of crisp carbonation. Lighter caramel malt, some dark fruit. A solid. very west-coasty barley wine. A little harsh though, not nearly as smooth as, say, the Southern Tier Backburner series. Way hoppier, though. Hop is upfront and in your face, here, tropical and citrus flavors are obvious.

Bottle, thanks Eddan.
Slightly hazy dark red with a small head. Sweet with dried fruit, hops, malt, toffee and some citrus. Some warming alcohol in the finish. I kind of liked this one.
