Murky, dark amber pour with a thick head of creamy beige foam. Heavy rings of lace were left around the glass. The aroma included pungent citrus, pine, thick caramel, and also some fruity notes. The flavor was full of dulled citrus hoppiness followed by heavy doses of caramel and toffee. Also some dark fruits and a little leather and alcohol warmth. Full-bodied and lightly carbonated. Pretty straintforward and a little rough around the edges. rudolf (1758), Buffalo, New York, USA

Decent lacing. All I got out of this was pine resin and some caramel and toffee in the background with a semi thick mouth feel and bitter finish. It grew on me a little as I drank but would not do a repeat of this one. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA

This one is particularly rough... strong tones of spoiled wine, uber high esters, bitter finish, suprisingly high carbonation... the beer borders on offensive. Very complex and deep flavors, that 3 hour boil did the trick! Geokkjer (256), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Bomber, poured a mahogany body topped by beige head of foam. Aroma was moderately sweet, pine/grapefruit, caramel, cherry and peach. Flavour was initially bold, as extremely hopped up tangerine, pineapple, and pine with toffee, caramel, and raisins compromise the malt backbone. This is still fairly lopsided with hops and bitterness. Decent, yet smooth barley wine beer.
