Commercial Description:
Our American-style Barleywine undergoes a three hour boil to intesify the caramel malts and the enormous Pacific Northwest hop charge. The result is a rich, estery brew with toffee notes and citrus hop flavors layered throughout. Enjoy this brew fresh today or lay it down for aging to see how the flavors of each vintage evolve.

This has a quite pleasant smell. Like gumballs with hops. It is very bright and fresh. The color is slightly off copper, a light tan. Lots of good lacing. The taste is alcoholic. Quite a bit of bitterness in the end. A rather short finish. Decent.

Bomber from Orland Park Binny’s. Pours dark amberish brown with thick tan head. Aromas of sweet caramel and malt, PNW hops, toffee, dark fruits, and some booze. Flavors of bitter hops, toffee, caramel, malts, and some light booze. Finishes a little bitter from the hops, but also has some sweetness from caramel and toffee flavor. This one was surely leans to the west coast style of barley wine. While it is not the most complex barley wine I have had it still a pretty solid ale overall.

Bottle at Chriso’s Kook Tasting 09. Hazy chestnut colour, lasting beige head. Slightly sour hoppy aroma. Lots of citurs. I liked it, a bit hot on the alcohol, some barley sugar. OK hops. Really drinkable.

22oz bottle. Cloudy reddish- medium brown color. Light tan head. Loads of toffee and chocolate malts, very nice toasted malt aroma. Nice light hint of citrus. Like those toffee candies with orange essence you can buy during the Christmas Holidays. Flavor of rich caramel malt. Lots of em. A nice body of toasted malts with a hint of nuttiness. Bold PNW hops character. Lots of grapefruit and big bold hop bitterness. This beer has aged very well, it is at least two and a half years old. Very strrong as well.

Rich mahogany, quick to dissipate beige head, no lacing.
Aroma is of alcohol, caramel, high sweetness, high hops.
Flavour is hot, Hoppy, quite sweet, lots of caramel, some citrus.
Warm mouth, med body, mod carb.
Finishes long, sweet and very hot.

Lacking in balance, very high alcohol throughout. It’s just okay.

650ml bottle purchased at Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York.

Opened on July 15, 2009.

Vintage 2008.
