marcus (908), Sacramento, California, USA May 9, 2008 This copper ale poured with a lacy beige head with staying power. There is a pleasant malt aroma. The flavor is thick and toffee-like with a long dry bitter finish. This is a hopped-up barleywine that is dryer and more bitter than most, but still a fairly satisfying drink.
omhper (10140), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 18, 2008 Bottled, thanks Crosling! Hazy ruby, small head. Aroma of juicy lychee and grapefruit. Sure, it’s malty, but it’s dominated by juicy fresh citric hops. The carmelly malt is a mere excuse for the 10%. The hoppy lychee flavours later turns into long powerful bitterness. Certianly not the most complex barley wine, but very good. Lowe1983 (722), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jul 17, 2008 Pours a darker amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of caramel malts, dark fruits, and some citrus hops. Flavor is sweet at first with caramel and toffee malts. Finishes strong with a little citrus hops and an alcohol warming. Pretty good. MakeItDrinkIt (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 14, 2008 Dark amber hue with a medium tan head. Aroma is hoppy (spicy, a little citric), and caramel. The flavor is a big splash of malt and hops at the same time - a little bitter/dry for my tongue, but I bet this will be a fabulous been in another year or so. anders37 (2483), Malmö, Sweden Jul 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Long hoppy malty aroma with some hints of caramel. Sweet malty dark fruit flavor with lots of hoppy hints. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter finish. caesar (2444), Zeist, Netherlands Jul 1, 2008 Bottled, bought in Vejle. Clear amber color, short head. Aroma is very hoppy, some caramel malt, hint of toffee and citrus. Very hopbitter taste, malty body. Not a typical example of the style I guess, but nevertheless nicely balanced and good.
