Loads of toffee and chocolate malts, very nice toasted malt aroma. Nice light hint of citrus. Like those toffee candies with orange essence you can buy during the Christmas Holidays. Flavor of rich caramel malt. Lots of em. A nice body of toasted malts with a hint of nuttiness. Bold PNW hops character. Lots of grapefruit and big bold hop bitterness. This beer has aged very well, it is at least two and a half years old. Very strrong as well.

Its been sitting in my fridge ever since. After popping the top the bottle popped some bubbles and then poured smootly. Pours a nice rich amber with a mellow tan head that sits nicely on top of the brew. The nose is smokey and full of toffee and caramel. The taste is big and bold with toffee that fills the mouth. The aftertaste is quite bitter and doesn’t have that throat warming quality that I enjoy so much when it comes to barley wines. Certainly not the best barley wine I’ve had, but not the worst either, reminds me of Alpine Great. drawde (115), San Francisco, California, USA

[Tasted next to Moylans Old Blarney Barley Wine]
The Moylans has more hop flavor; the Green Flash has much more hop sting but not as much hop flavor. Grovlam (3881), Copenhagen, Denmark

Hazy golden light brown color. Aroma was strong notes of malt, bread, grain, mild oak, and a solid floral and grapefruit notes. Over the palate came caramel and again solid hoppy feel. Full bodied with an average carbonation and thick dry mild alcoholic texture. Moderated bitter and sweet in balance. Lingering dry thick hoppy, oily and bread like finish. Lovely. Aroma is vanilla cake icing blended with fruity hops. Interesting but nice. Taste is an explosion of hop flavor. Tons of citrus and pine, fizzy on the mouth. The bitterness is borderline over the top but it’s all right because it keeps the substantial sweetness at bay, just barely. One of the better American Style Barley Wines I’ve tried recently.
