thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark May 6, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Høkeren, Cph.
Pours clear coppery red with a big frothy yellowish head. Super duration and nice lacing. Aroma is deeply fruity hoppy with some fat toffee thickness behind it. Pine and grapefruit dominates. Lowish carbonation with a great, oily mouthfeel. Flavour is well vinious, lots of chewy caramel malts. Fine, but rather powerful bitterness. Grassy, pine and lightly fruity.
mar (519), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 25, 2008 deep ruby pour with a 3 finger cream colored head. dark fruits, caramel and sugar on the nose. great thickness and a good malt flavor with a small hop bitterness in the finish. blutt59 (521), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 19, 2008 bottle, dark orange pour, good creamy head, flavors of caramel , hops and a little oak, sweet finish omhper (10145), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 18, 2008 Bottled, thanks Crosling! Hazy ruby, small head. Aroma of juicy lychee and grapefruit. Sure, it’s malty, but it’s dominated by juicy fresh citric hops. The carmelly malt is a mere excuse for the 10%. The hoppy lychee flavours later turns into long powerful bitterness. Certianly not the most complex barley wine, but very good. Lowe1983 (730), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Jul 17, 2008 Pours a darker amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of caramel malts, dark fruits, and some citrus hops. Flavor is sweet at first with caramel and toffee malts. Finishes strong with a little citrus hops and an alcohol warming. Pretty good. MakeItDrinkIt (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 14, 2008 Dark amber hue with a medium tan head. Aroma is hoppy (spicy, a little citric), and caramel. The flavor is a big splash of malt and hops at the same time - a little bitter/dry for my tongue, but I bet this will be a fabulous been in another year or so.
