On tap at Tyler’s, Durham. Thick pour, more cloudy than your average brown but still buoyed by nice carbonation. Nose was sharp and spicy, with tons of malt and a familiar yeast strain. Slightly sticky and chewy palate bogs things down a bit, and the yeast (which I think they may also use for their Grand Cru) ends up dominating just a bit much. But it’s nutty and sharp in the right balance and was a decent brew on a rainy day.

Tap at green flash. Pours a brownish amber with a medium bubbly white head. Aroma of chocolate, Belgian spicy yeast notes and tobacco. Flavor of the same.

Pours a brown color with a white head. Smells of yeast, sweet fruit, and malts. Taste is yeast, wheat, banana, and roasted caramel malts. Has a little spice flavor on the after taste.

tap at Rattle n hum - really nice spicey. phenollic yeasty. nutty malts fruity banana and cloves.

Draft @ BT. Brown pour with tan head. Yeast throws banana and light fruit notes. Some light malt notes. Kind of boring.

Draft. Pours a bruin body with an off white head and good head retention. Fruity and bland mineral tones, a nice yeast sediment and fruity banana notes. Spicy yeast with a dry finish and a light pear prickle. Good brew.

Tap @ the brewery. Pours an opaque deep brown with a small off white ring. Nose held some yeast and roasty characters, light spice and banana as well. Flavor profile was much of the same.

Deep brown pour with a thick sticky tan head. The nose has a sort of soft, Belgiany spiciness. A little bit of nice chewy sweetness, but like a lot of American-brewed “Belgian” ales, the yeast comes across as very dirty. Oddly chewy palate with a lot of clove and light cocoa. Has a sort of indistinct earthy/spicy quality. Meh – I’m not a huge fan of this one.

Pours brown, hazy, medium sized head, good lace. Smells sweet and nutty malty, big yeast notes. Tastes the same with a big roasty finish. Pretty ok. Medium body, nice carbonation.
