2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap at Hamilton’s. Fuck I hate cedar in beer. Wish I’d known this was cedar aged before I ordered it. The nose is actually a little sweet, some pepper. Flavor is a little brown sugar raisin sweet, but quickly turns very bitter with grapefruit rinds, and far too heavy handed with the cedar, making it hairsprayspicy, and exacerbates the bitterness, which peaked at a 7-8. Big full body, low prickly carbonation. Probably much better minus the cedar--or maybe use oak, because it doesn’t suck. Clear reddish brown with a small beige head, faded to a tiny ring. No me gusta.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014 - Red Session. Pours clear amber-gold with a tan foam topping. Big cedar aroma - with little else. Medium to heavy sweet flavour, with strong and drying cedar wood, light honey, some bread, toffee, grass. Medium to full in body with fine carbonation. Warming and sticky in the finish, with continuing heavy cedar. The cedar really lingers, too. A bit too much cedar character, really.

(En fût à la brasserie au lancement de la Silva Stout): Hyper moelleux, figues, fraises, caramel et une cascade de pruneaux dans une certaine lourdeur des malts. Pas le meilleur ami de la buvabilité.

First thing is that the nose of this smells like patulli maybe from the oak it was aged on not sure. But it is quite complex with a lot of herbal flavors.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass copper colored, nice head. Fiery malty aroma. Starts fiery, strong, intense malty, warming, not too roasty. Alcoholic notes are not too intense. Warming-malty finish, light hints of caramel. Nice!
