COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with 100% Columbus hops this double IPA is an absolute Columbus hop bomb! Its resinous hop character comes through with huge grapefruit zest and pine notes throughout the brew. The big juicy, fruity, citrus hops add a resinous and almost sticky hop presence in the body making the medium body from crystal malts seem even richer and fuller. This is a hop head’s treat! 8.8% ABV, 98 IBU Hops used: Columbus

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served, showing a clear, amber color, with a nice layer of off white/light tan head foam, and curtainy lacing. The aroma was malty, citrusy, sweet fruit, and resin. The taste remained sweet, more resinous than the nose, smooth, but quite hoppy, adding rind-like, and citrusy bitterness. Alcohol was definitely present, but not boozy. Medium+ bodied, with fair carbonation, the finish remained bitter, with equal hints of sweetness & dryness. Tasty, and well hopped enjoyment.

>> Chilean fire pour. Dust storm foam. Nose is sticky, dusty, definitely an old keg. Taste is dusty, bitter, papery. Can’t even drink it. Boo on this place.

Pint at The Tap Room in West Hartford, CT. Filtered reddish gold with a white head. Smell Is caramel, Orange, lemon, grapefruit and hops. Taste is similar with big grapefruit bitterness. Some lingering sweetness between sips.

100th DIPA rate! On draft at The Top in Gainesville. Pours golden copper with no head (because the bartender filled to rim). Aroma of fresh pine and grapefruit hops, lemon zest, grass. Really nice. Flavor follows with a beautifully refreshing hop character: grapefruit, pine, grass, citrus peels. Delicate flavors alongside big bitterness and a malt backbone that stays in the background. One of the best new IPAs (to me) that I have had in a while. Medium bodied, resinous, with medium plus to high carbonation. Maybe my favorite from GF. Awesome brew.

A pretty good single hop Columbus IPA iwth all the expected notes and aromas and the typical lean malt body of a Green Flash IPA. Not too bitter. Nice stuff.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours copper with a white head. Aroma is citrus/earth. Or maybe pine/earth. Med body or better. Flavor is earthy, piney with a lot of caramel. Almost toffee in the finish, but the finish is definitely hoppy/bitter.

5oz sample at the Brass Tap. Clear golden orange color. Thin off-white head, that leaves plenty of super thick lace. Big piney orange citrusy hop aroma, pretty resiny. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Some caramel malt aroma. Bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Good, big, hoppy assertive single-hop DIPA.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2014 1) Keg, The Pony, UES, 19/02/14. Clear deep orange with a narrow white lid. Aroma of orange cordial and bath foam lavender. Simplistic, slightly hot meaty malt and underlying orange liqueur burn flavour. Marzipan hints. Finally very bitter. Bath water and honey. Not for me. 2) "GF Hop Odyssey Columbus", keg, Amsterdam Ale House, UWS, 22/02/14. Another duplicate? Bastards. Need to get my shit together. Frozen peach, hint of pine nose. Booze taking over anodyne peach, floral, liquorice attempts. No flavour after the Harpoon (Long Thaw); hints of liver and almond (?!). Headless deep bronze freckling with lace. Improves as it warms but still pretty bland. Lime Fruit Pastille hints. Too cold and lacking in personality at 8.8. 636313
