COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with 100% Columbus hops this double IPA is an absolute Columbus hop bomb! Its resinous hop character comes through with huge grapefruit zest and pine notes throughout the brew. The big juicy, fruity, citrus hops add a resinous and almost sticky hop presence in the body making the medium body from crystal malts seem even richer and fuller. This is a hop head’s treat! 8.8% ABV, 98 IBU Hops used: Columbus

Pours a cloudy rust orange with white head. Has a floral hop aroma with some citrus. Taste is dry with citrus, floral hops, and pine. A sweet and bitter aftertaste.

On tap in tulip: Pours clear amber with a one finger white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, grapefruit, and a little piney. Taste is very dry, citrus fruits, and the pine is prevalent at the back end. Medium body, slightly harsh on the back end. Still, a very nice IPA.

Draft to taster. Looks good for a West Coast DIPA; a transparent golden orange with foamy eggshell head. Smells of juicy Columbus hops with a lightly sweet pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. A solid example of the style.

Draft at Thirsty Monk. Poured a clear orange body under an average foamy white head. Aroma is nice and hoppy. Notes of citrus, grapefruit, tangerine and apricots. Medium body that finishes with such a good dose of bitterness that it lingerd to the point of a slight burn. Flavor of grains, toast, oranges, grapefruit and citrus rind. Good stuff.

Draft at Thirsty Monk during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear gold with a frothy white head. Juicy home aroma, some orange and grapefruit especially. Medium sweet flavor with rich grapefruit, pine, light grass and bitter orange rind. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Resinous finish with more hefty grapefruit punch, some other pithy citrus. Very good.

phaleslu (5867) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 15, 2014
Draft at Thirsty Monk. Pours a semi-cloudy gold with an off-white head. Huge nose. Herbal, dank, citrusy, and grassy. The flavor is the same quality, with not quite the same massive punch. Grapefruit citrus, a little bit of pine, plenty of herbs. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dank, sweaty, herbal, oily mouthfeel. They’re not messing around with the Columbus in this one. Big, aggressive hop showcase.

Big, reninous, full. Not much more to say. Not nuanced or proving a veritable flavour platter, but does everything a good DIPA does. Dryish finish. One of the more straight forward offerings from GF, but still head and shoulders above 90 percent of the competition.

Medium amber color. Frothy white head. Massive hoppy nose with apples and oranges. Very clean. Full bodied, slightly astringent very full bodied. Big bitterness. Big backbone. Straight forward big Single hopped IIPA. Enjoyable, but nothing to set the world on fire.
