Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours copper with a white head. Aroma is citrus/earth. Or maybe pine/earth. Med body or better. Flavor is earthy, piney with a lot of caramel. Almost toffee in the finish, but the finish is definitely hoppy/bitter.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 5, 2014 1) Keg, The Pony, UES, 19/02/14. Clear deep orange with a narrow white lid. Aroma of orange cordial and bath foam lavender. Simplistic, slightly hot meaty malt and underlying orange liqueur burn flavour. Marzipan hints. Finally very bitter. Bath water and honey. Not for me.
2) "GF Hop Odyssey Columbus", keg, Amsterdam Ale House, UWS, 22/02/14. Another duplicate? Bastards. Need to get my shit together. Frozen peach, hint of pine nose. Booze taking over anodyne peach, floral, liquorice attempts. No flavour after the Harpoon (Long Thaw); hints of liver and almond (?!). Headless deep bronze freckling with lace. Improves as it warms but still pretty bland. Lime Fruit Pastille hints. Too cold and lacking in personality at 8.8.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Fiery amber, slight copper hue, moderate to large sandy head, foamy, fairly nice lacing.   Big sweet resiny nose, candied citrus peel, sweet pith.   Smooth on the tongue, not too heavy.   Hoppy but not bitter.   Citrus peel and pith, both of the sweet variety.   Really citrusy this one is.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Not too thick tho, or heavy.   Clean resiny finish, lots of sweet citrus peel and pith.   Great IIPA!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Thirsty Monk. Pours a semi-cloudy gold with an off-white head. Huge nose. Herbal, dank, citrusy, and grassy. The flavor is the same quality, with not quite the same massive punch. Grapefruit citrus, a little bit of pine, plenty of herbs. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dank, sweaty, herbal, oily mouthfeel. They’re not messing around with the Columbus in this one. Big, aggressive hop showcase.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
5oz sample at the Brass Tap. Clear golden orange color. Thin off-white head, that leaves plenty of super thick lace. Big piney orange citrusy hop aroma, pretty resiny. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Some caramel malt aroma. Bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Good, big, hoppy assertive single-hop DIPA.
