3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium body, as piquant as Indian food, alcohol contributing to palate and balance but not in evidence.
Sweet to start, mild bitterness follows,
Interesting, more than delicious.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at 10 East. I was pretty excited to try this, as I really enjoy the standard version of Double Stout. I love beer that incorporate chili peppers in them so this should be exceptional! It was good, but the chili pepper character in the aroma was non-existant and the character in the beer was extremely restrained, like a chili pepper stout for babies. The greatness of the base beer was lessened with this addition.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at brewery. Pours black with a khaki head and lots and lots of sticky khaki head coating the glass. Prominent roasted chili pepper on the nose. The chocolate is more forward but the peppers are there as well. Itís not a heat bomb by any means but thereís a nice hint of heat on the finish which does build a bit as you drink but not to the point it starts to numb things. Very nice!

Tap. Black with small head. Quite a bit of heat up front, but then the malt kicks in and the spiciness is muted. Not really my thing, but it kinda works.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Flannyís in Tempe during the tap takeover. It pours with a very dark body that supports a thin mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up big dark roasted maltiness, burnt malts, dark roasted coffee, a touch of toffee and then a pleasing chili pepper meat note. The taste begins with big robust levels of dark roasted malts, burnt malts and dark roasted coffee. Wow. This has a full and rich highly roasted start to it. After this initial assault bits of dark chocolate are noticed among the big bruising dark roasted notes. Underneath all of this murmurs chili pepper meat that slides slowly into a chili pepper burn that grows to modest levels into the finish. Yummy stuff with a great balance and richness.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Super dark toasted coffee with a hint of earthy goodness. Mouthful is followed by some slight heat from the chilis. A bit too much for my taste.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draft at the Livermore Saloon. Iím a sucker for these big chili imperial stouts. It pours black with an off white head. The aroma has huge notes of green Serrano chilis and dark chocolate. The flavor has huge spicy peppers with chocolate and dry roasted malt. Perfect balance of spice heat, chocolate and dirty roasted malt. Awesome.
