Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Bottle at Bob’s Bar. This beer pours an oily black color with a medium thick tan head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Nice roasted coffee and malt aroma with a touch of cocoa. Rich and chewy body, with flavors of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Light hops and yeast notes at times too. The finish is roasty with a burnt malt aftertaste. Overall this is an enjoyable Double Stout.

22oz bottle-pours a rich brown head and dark brown color. Aroma is dark malt/oats-rich chocolate, slight earthy hops with some acidic. Taste is dark malt/oats-rich chocolate, earthy hops with some acidic balanced with some fruit. Occasional. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing this.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2014 22oz.bottle. Pours a nice mocha colored head, some lacing, rich dark brown, nose is of the usual coffee, chocolate, molasses, malt, tastes similar. Great silky mouth feel. Unfortunately the finishing taste is a little unbalanced and rather bitter. Too much boiling hops, or is it the "west coast" style?? This is a lighter take on an Imperial Stout with not quite as much fruit tones as many. This is because the dark roasted malts with heavy chocolate, bitter coffee notes are utterly dominant. 22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Nose is coffee, chocolate and molasses. Creamy, full body with a sharp tang. Taste is dark chocolate and Greek coffee. Dry, slightly bitter finish rounds out a fine stout. Surprised this was not an Impy.

22 oucne bottle from BBB63. Pours pitch black with a thick brown head. Lots of lace too. Lots of deep roasted character with a nice amount of earthy hops. Huge roasted malt flavor and crazy bitterness that lingers for a bit. Full bodied with an oily mouthfeel. Dry with a long aftertaste. Really pretty damn good stuff.

This was the 2nd best stout of the night after the Hoppin’ Frog. Great aromas of roasted malts, milk chocolate and some vanilla notes. Big, creamy flavors that lean towards a dry stout. Malty and super tasty. Another winner from Green Flash (hey Green Flash - I know a couple great places for a brewery here in Philadelphia!!)

650 ml. Opaque with a small creamy ring above with frosting everywhere. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, bread, light caramel. Tastes of all the same plus some lightly peppery-sweet hickory. Chocolate oatmeal cookie and light ash on the finish. Heavy body is soft, dryish and just watery enough to keep from being too sticky.

22oz. bottle, and a stellar bonus from my man Bert (sloth)! Pours black with a creamy dark brown head, great retention and lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, like a really rich chocolate milk, with some cocoa and vanilla as well. Flavor is like a roasty chocolate milkshake. A bit one dimensional but nice.
