Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2008 Black/brown pour. Brown head, long lasting, but no real lacing to speak of. Great aromas. Mocha coffee, burnt malts. Taste is the same strong coffee, slight mocha and a little bit bitter with alcohol in the finish. Very full body. Improves as it warms a little also.

Medium brown head that disappears pretty quickly. Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate flavors. Faint, underwhelming aroma with a little bit of cocoa in there. Smooth and creamy texture is really nice. The finish is a little bitter with a very faint alcohol tinge in there as well. Ok but not great up against some of the bigger offerings out there.

Poured black with a brown head. Aroma and flavor of burn roasty malts and dark chocolate with a rich roasty finish.

22oz bomber, nice 3 finger head that falls to a creamy coating on the liquid surface and sides of the glass. Exceptionaly dark. Has a peculiar ( in a good way ) smell of marshmallows, birch, milk chocolate (nestles quick). Taste is very pleasant, creamy chocolate and maltiness lagged by a nice roast and supportive hop bitterness. The whole thing takes a very lazy exit, finally leaving a dry tongue coating hop resiny yumminess. Realllly good stout. The alcohol is not immediately evident, at least try to drink slowly. I think this one is a little underrated.

Bottle from southbaydrugs. Delicious. Black with a nice brown head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee with a faint, faint hit of dark dried fruits. Flavor is a chcolatey and espresso. Perfect mouthfeel. Just a wonderful stout.

22 oz bomber courtesy Durhambeer. Pour black with a thick rocky dark tan head. Dark chocolate, cocoa and hints of coffee in the aroma, very nice and balanced. Big bold chocolate malt taste, roasted grains, and nice earthy hops, again, well balanced and big. Everything blends together well and would make a great desert beer.

22 oz bottle

Sent in a recent trade as a bonus Green Flash products soon appeared on the shelves of Ohio a month later. I won’t complain as this is now going on my list of imperial stouts to revisit when I want to slow down. It reminds me of a toned down version of the Southern Tier Choklat but more accessible and easy on the palate.

Aroma / Appearance - The one finger ash brown head surfed above a black fluid base. Cocoa, coffee, black licorice and peanut butter wrapped in rich dark chocolate truffle formed a dense combination of scents. The tannish lacing was icing on the cake for a picture perfect pour.

Flavor / Palate - Dark chocolate mixed with straight black coffee washed smoothly across the tongue and throat. A lingering malty bitterness was accented by light hints of anise. The dry finish was similar to eating a rich piece of chocolate cake or a very dark truffle. A nice nightcap after a meal this is an ideal dessert beer. I can’t wait to try it again in the future.

Bomber. Good milk chocolate candy bar aroma with some roasted oats. Black body with tan head and some lacing. Good chcolate stout flavor and smooth on the palate. Good beer.

22oz bottle fresh. Pour is a glossy black with a thick head of frothy dark cream and lacing. Very attractive stout. The aroma is predominantly roast, but there is also something like liquorish or dark fruit, but only a hint. The flavor is almost burnt, but not annoyingly so. This is a pretty nice stout, that is way more quaffable than I would have thought after seeing the 8.8% label.
