COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

12 oz bottle...pours almost black with thick but quickly fading head...minimal lacing. Earthy nose; mild / smooth / malty taste with little hint of the 8.8% abv....this one will sneak up on you, I am sure....bottom line...tasty and smooth.

This is quite good. Dark and a bit roasty but thankfully no coffee. Very smooth and a bit chocolaty. Really quite nice, esp. after a long successful hunt.

Bottle. Black with medium beige head and much lacing. Roasty aroma. Very malty and rich flavour, big bodied and filling. Wonderful finish. A very superior stout

Almost black with brown creamy head. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate, peated whiskey. Taste is also vanilla and chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and hints of whiskey. Smooth, creamy texture. Awesome beer!!! Too bad I only got to taste it. Next time I’d like a whole bottle of this!

Black bodied, small tan head. Liquorish, rich brown sugar, cream. Smooth creamy with enough hops to balance and be interesting enough. Nice sticky mouthfeel. (At De Molen tasting)

Bitter chocolate and coffee aromas with hints of piney hops. Pours black with a thin head. Bitter dark flavors dark chocolate with resinous hops coming through as well. Hoppy stout but I like it

Pours an opaque brown with a light brown foam. Good lacings on the glass. Aroma of soy, brown malt, and some medicinal notes. Flavor is more appealing. Roasted malt, coffee, and some burnt offerings. Bitter and dry finish.

Opaque black with a thick milk chocolate foam, spotty lacing. Aroma is big chocolate, coffee, roast. Taste is roasty, not astringently bitter, some chocolate, lightly bitter finish.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at MDL in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is a dark brown black with settling that builds up a firm 1 1/2 inch khaki head. Falls slowly with thick lacing. The aroma is bitter dark chocolate, soft malt sweetness, and a hint of pine and roast. All nicely melded with an approachable softness. The taste starts with big bitter dark chocolate, chalky cane sugar sweet malt, finishing with pine roast and more of the chalky sweetness. A touch of soy is present as well which doesn’t work real well for me with the sweetness. The palate is medium bodied, a little oily, yet dry with the bitterness. Aftertaste offers up some alcohol heat. Overall, the taste didn’t have too much of the softness and integration of the nose, though was still interesting enough.

22 oz. bottle, from Gary’s Beverage, Portsmouth, NH. Used an English pint glass. Nice thick, full, dense, tan head, lots of lace. Nose is almost exclusively roasted malt. The taste is where this one shines. Full body. Nice creamy texture. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate with a lightly bitter finish. I don’t pick up the 8.8 abv at all. A very fine stout. I will buy this again.
