COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex Ė Double Stout.

Pours black, nice tan head, decent spoty lacing. Roasty aroma, coffee and Choclate. Nice bitter stout qualitys. Dark Choclate, espresso, dark roasty malt, yum. Mouthfeel is a little lighter than I expected but not light, a bit coating, carbonation is medium low. Nice stout. Thanks a bunch NorCalgrowler

Bottle, my post house-work/dog-walk, pre-nap Sunday afternoon beer. Pours like any self-respecting stout should ... thick, cascading into a thick, boiling-top of foam. The aroma is mellow, yet promising, and the beer ultimately delivers with a sweet, chocolate-based kick in the pants. The finish is a nice finessed bitterness. I love this style -- grittier, more bodied than the airier stouts trying to imitate Guinness. Like a good steak versus a burger. (#4522, 3/11/2012)

Draft. Black. Brown head. Too dark to tell anything else. Chocolate aroma. Taste is sweet and bitter. Coffee flavor. Awesome lacing. Another great green flash brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, spices and caramel. Well balanced with a nice bitterness.

12 oz. bottle- Pours pitch black with a nice two finger mocha colored head. The aroma is coffee, chocolate, leather, tobacco, basically most of the hallmarks you want in an Imperial Stout, which raises the question, why is it in the stout category? The taste is dark roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, bitter but smooth. Body is medium to almost full, carbonation is medium. Overall itís a little more bitter than I would like for this style, but there is no denying it is well crafted.

Aroma of cocoa, coffee, vanilla, raisins and whoppers. Appearance is well carbonated black with thick mocha head. Flavor matches the nose, but with some pronounced roastiness; the finish is slightly fruity and boozy. Palate was bubbly and creamy. A dream.

MMMM. Iím really getting behind the green flash style lately. I donít know what took me so long? Crappy labels maybe. Anyhow! Aroma is a bit muted but obvious overtones of chocolate, coffee, roast, tiny hint of smoke. A bit softer than a big RIS but definitely hitting all the right notes. App: thick black, not oily, not viscous but completely opaque. Serious brown head leaves a brown coating on the glass. Taste: sweeter than a RIS which the nose really hinted at but the taste confirms. Still nice with roast and dark chocolate, coffee, but not molasses. palate is a bit bubbly with good carb and not to thick as to be chewy but again itís not trying to be a HUGE beer. I think itís just trying to be a damned good stout. Overall I wish I had discovered this before the winter was almost over. Green flash is doing most things right nowadays (except the saison) and this continues that trend!

From a bottle, $3.50 at vintage. Pour is big and black and the aroma is quite attractive, roasty and clean. Very nice thin creamy head. First taste is oh my, trying to be an imperial stout. Yes, I have tasted imperial stouts much milder than this, not sure what the story is here, this should be styled an impy. Now I know why it rates so high on this website, its an impy masquerading as a stout. If you like impy stout, fine, try this but if you are just simply a stout lover, forget about this, its over the top. Near rude rototilling flavors from beginning to end. Big alky laced bitter somewhat choco thing in here. Bitter lingering finish, a little dissapointed in this one. I was expecting something a little more behaved for the style.
