COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Bought at Trader Joe’s in Grossmont. Drank in a frozen glass mug. Appearance: Extremely dark with a thick pillowy head. Plenty or rings on the glass as it was consumed. Aroma-Coffee and hops, the way a stout should smell. Taste: Coffee, vanilla, and chocolate mixed with piney hops. Palate: Very pleasant. This beer tastes great and does not overwhelm your taste buds. Many people mistakenly think that dark beers are overwhelming, but that is simple not true. I’ve had IPA’s and Strong Ales that are stronger than this. Overall: A great showing from Green Flash. I will definitely pick some more of this up.

Brown black with 2 inches of the densest brown head I’ve seen in a while. Aroma and taste rich and roasty, with a bitter coffee edge. $4/12oz

Bomber from Binny’s Buffalo Grove. Pours near black with nice tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, dark chocolate, and a bit of a hop note. Flavors of burnt malts, bitter hops, and dark chocolate. Finishes bitter and dry. Nice stout.

4-pack from Trader Joe’s ($7!). Pours black with a thick and frothy dark tan head that laces its way down the sides of the glass. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, light bitter coffee, and oats through the finish - slightly thin aroma. Even, semi-creamy feel in the mouth with a heavy roasted malt.chocolate flavor up front followed by chocolate bitterness with light bitter hops that winds into a relatively dry finish. Great overall stout (more like a light imperial to me) that is of extremely high quality for the price.

Whole Foods, P st, DC 4-pack ($11): Pours a black color with a brownish head. Aroma is of coffee, vanilla, roasted malt, and some tree. Taste starts out smooth, but then hits into some bitterness, which sustains throughout and into the aftertaste. Considering the high alcohol content, it drinks pretty smooth, but as it warms up there are certainly notes of some booze up in there. Overall, this is robust, but palatable. Strong, but in a sense subdued. Having had the Green Flash hops bombs, I thought this would be way more intense, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a more ’measured’ and subdued beer (ignore the 8.8).

650mL bottle poured a dark brown color with robust beige head that left some nice lacing behind. Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is malty sweet with chocolate notes and mild hoppy bitterness to finish things off. This is a great tasting beer that can be enjoyed anytime and anywhere.

Great stout. Nice roasty, coffee flavors. Nice malty sweetness, and a gorgeous syrupy sweet aftertaste on your lips/tongue.

bottle... dark brown with a medium tan head, not much retention but thick with spotty lace... the nose is a bit light but solid, raisins, chocolate a bit of smoke... tastes great, super impressive non ba stout, tons of flavor and super balanced
