Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Whole Foods, P st, DC 4-pack ($11): Pours a black color with a brownish head. Aroma is of coffee, vanilla, roasted malt, and some tree. Taste starts out smooth, but then hits into some bitterness, which sustains throughout and into the aftertaste. Considering the high alcohol content, it drinks pretty smooth, but as it warms up there are certainly notes of some booze up in there. Overall, this is robust, but palatable. Strong, but in a sense subdued. Having had the Green Flash hops bombs, I thought this would be way more intense, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a more ’measured’ and subdued beer (ignore the 8.8).

650mL bottle poured a dark brown color with robust beige head that left some nice lacing behind. Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is malty sweet with chocolate notes and mild hoppy bitterness to finish things off. This is a great tasting beer that can be enjoyed anytime and anywhere.

Great stout. Nice roasty, coffee flavors. Nice malty sweetness, and a gorgeous syrupy sweet aftertaste on your lips/tongue.

bottle... dark brown with a medium tan head, not much retention but thick with spotty lace... the nose is a bit light but solid, raisins, chocolate a bit of smoke... tastes great, super impressive non ba stout, tons of flavor and super balanced

Bottle. Pours extremely dark brown, almost completely black, with a lasting dense tan head. Aroma is rather restrained but appealing with hints of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, smoke and dark fruit. Flavour is bolder and roastier with notes of oak, tar, dark chocolate, smoke and vanilla. Thick, creamy mouthfeel with prickly carbonation and a long roasty finish. Well crafted, complex and very easy to drink, this stout isn’t as rich and sweet as a lot of Imperials but it still has plenty going on .

this the best looking beer that I’ve ever seen. I held it up to the light and could not see through it at all. While it only smelled like a single stout, which concerned me, the taste clearly was that of two stoust. this beer is great!

12oz bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a big creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet grainy chocolate malts, licorice and some lactose and roast. Weird floral notes come out as it warms.

The flavor is sweet plasticky lactic chocolate with black licorice and a big roasted char bitter finish that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation and a bit oily.

Overall, it just doesn’t work for me. The more I sip, the less I like it. It has too many off notes for me - plastic and too much oily char that makes the black licorice unpleasant as well.

A: The beer pours black in color with a rather impressive two fingers of tan head. S: Intense roasted malt and coffee aromas to this. Plenty of dark chocolate aromas with a subtle earthiness. Perhaps a hint of smoke, same thing for licorice. A bit of molasses and toffee for sweetness. T: The roasted malt flavor is quite powerful with a slight bitterness and earthy hop note. Lots of strong coffee and dark chocolate flavors, maybe a bit of licorice and burnt sugar. Subtle sweetness on the mid-palate. M: Medium bodied with smooth, medium carbonation. O: A very tasty beverage. Another solid beer from Green Flash.
