COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex Double Stout.

This is my first ever imperial stout.. after about a year of trying many, many beer styles i think my palate is prepared. Pours blacks and thick with a mocha head and a big espresso noise on it with a slight ash + hop tone. Has a creamy mouth feel and is very sweet in the taste with a hard to detect bitterness although i can really taste the alcohol. Alot of the coffee comes through to the taste also with a slight liquorice? I didnt mind this beer was quite warming and i can see why these are good for winter.

Pour from bottle I got at Beer Mongers in Portland, Oregon 11 months ago. I bought this to age as an experiment to see if itd get any better. Dont remember the original fresh bottle I had so I really dont know lol. Appearance is dark, licorice black with small head, little lacing. Nose is pretty subtle with some light malt, leather, alcohol, tobacco and a grassy other thing I cant tell. Palate is light leather, with some subdued roasted chocolate coffee bits. Pretty nice balance. Still has good carbonation. Mouthfeel is pretty smooth, really coats the mouth. A pretty nice beer all in all.
