railcat1 (478), Hammond, Indiana, USA May 15, 2008 This was another fine beer from Green Flash and a rather good one poured with a nice black look and with a little brown head that last for a while. The abv was not that strong but as it warmed it was present and more flavors come out like roasted malts and a nice creamy finish another nice find in my cellar.CHEERS!
heemer77 (3609), North Liberty, Iowa, USA Jul 18, 2008 Thanks for sharing, iowaherkeye. Perfectly black body with an orangeish brown head. The aroma is rcih with green beans and some old caramel. There is a hint of molasses. The taste has some brown sugar and milk chocolate. A nice brew. Ibrew2or3 (1596), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Pours very dark with mocha head. The aroma is roasty dark malts, just a bit of burnt malts, some nice chocolate malts and faint toffee. The taste is pretty yummy. I get roasty to burnt malts to go along with dark chocolate. Midway some caramel and toffee surfaces before the big roastiness, dark roastiness and burnt malts surge and take over. Sweet, roasty, yummy with some pine hops riding along in the background. enginaaron (27), San Diego, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 Extremely dark/black body laced with a dark tan head. Sells slightly aged with a bit of alcohol and roasted malt. Strong roasted malt flavor with a small bit of chocolate and a bittersweet finish. Taste is strong of alcohol, much more than I would prefer. Seems time would be good. Towards end of beer it’s sweeter with less roasted malt and more sweet malt; and more mild. Decent balance between roasted and sweet flavors. Overall good but nothing to write home about. Enniskillen (1525), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Jul 12, 2008 Black with a tan head. Aroma is roasty with alcohol and chocolate, Taste is mildly sweet with chocolate and cream, light roastiness, and faint caramel. rallison (26), USA Jul 12, 2008 Chocolate, molasses and roasted malts in the nose on this one.
Creamy tan head that never fully diminishes with a tasty looking black body (this could devolve..).
Moderately sweet. Roasted malts. Some chocolate. Light dark fruits. Light alcohol presence. Coffee. Moderate bitterness. Not overly complex, but tasty.
Medium bodied for a double stout (not sure why this is listed as a single stout here) with a moderate carbonation level. Nice finish with a light alcohol warmth.
Recommended. The complexity could be better, but this is a solid, tasty beer.
