Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

This is a manly beer. I can feel the hair growing on my chest. Thick and DARK brown, this one has the roasty malty goodness reminiscent of coffee. Pours with a small, but brown head, everything is awesome about this beer. I love it.

355ml bottle. Perfect beer for this wet cold day. Pours thick and black with a very thick coffee coloured head, looks great in the glass. Carries a lot of weight in the glass which is normally the sign of a decent beer. Lots of chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma and the flavour makes your tastes buds dance for joy. Long warmth on the palate and great to the last drop.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2013 Absolutely one of the finest brews Ive had; almost a hybrid of a good black lager & a stout, with enough hop taste to please everyone. A+ all the way. 1st place overall at Beer Night IV on 6/7/13.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours dark black with 2-finger brown head and great lacing. Great look on this one. Nose is roasty toasty dark patent malt, chocoff, molasses, hazelnut, wheaties dipped in brown sugar. Tastes roasty dark malty, with molasses, chocoff, brown sugar, walnut, and a hefty, rich, complex palate that drips with complexity. The repour showed more cacao and jalapeno oily flavors, making this one akin to a mixture of 50% Bell’s Java and 50% St. Arnold Divine #5. Just outstanding!

Bottle, beermerchants.com. Pours beautifully treacle like, thick and black, with a deep tan head. Gorgeous chocolate flavour, hops play their part and give a great bitterness in the aftertaste. Flavours of cherry, blackcurrant, coffee and treacle come in, this is possibly the best stout I have had - so much flavour - a whopper of a beer and, for me, the stout equivalent of Bear Republic Racer 5.

Definitely one of the best tasting stouts around! This brew poured up a near-black body with a one-finger bubbly head with amazing retention and lacing effects on the glass. Aromas of rum, vanilla, chocolate, espresso, dark fruits (plums, figs), roasted malts. Flavors of the same but are so well-balanced. Medium- to Full-bodied, rich and thick, smooth and creamy. Refreshingly clean finish with no harsh aftertastes whatsoever.

Bought at Trader Joe’s in Grossmont. Drank in a frozen glass mug. Appearance: Extremely dark with a thick pillowy head. Plenty or rings on the glass as it was consumed. Aroma-Coffee and hops, the way a stout should smell. Taste: Coffee, vanilla, and chocolate mixed with piney hops. Palate: Very pleasant. This beer tastes great and does not overwhelm your taste buds. Many people mistakenly think that dark beers are overwhelming, but that is simple not true. I’ve had IPA’s and Strong Ales that are stronger than this. Overall: A great showing from Green Flash. I will definitely pick some more of this up.

Bottle from Brewdog website. An inky black beer with a quickly disappearing bright brown head. It has very rich chocolate and liquorice flavours, slight red fruit, more milk chocolate and a roasted finish. Superb!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm it’s raining and I have a double stout. Great head retention bold flavour big aroma. Will buy this again! Chocolate and coffee finish, lasting for a while. Mild carbonation, will need to be more careful on the pour next time. Creamy texture. -- rated via ’Find A Beer’ for Blackberry 10
