COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden naked oats mashed with dark crystal and robust roasted malts create a luscious black brew with a satin smooth finish. Layering UK Target hops in the boil adds a pleasant, earthy complexity while higher fermentation temperatures enhance the overall flavor with fruity esters. An old-world style, done the Green Flash way. Big, bold, flavorful and complex – Double Stout.

Bottle. Deep black pour with creamy dark brown head. Aroma of licorice (tons of it), molasses and chocolate - roasted grain notes remain to be found. Taste is sweet, licorice again, chocolate and a slightly boozy finish. Palate is smooth with medium carbonation, creamy feel. Good stout.

Poured from 12 fl oz bottle. Dark black with dissipating tan head. Coffee, a little cream, some mild dark chocolate. Taste has a bit of roast with some sweetness from dark chocolate coming forward. Medium+ body. A very solid beer, but not amazing for the style.

Bottle. Tall Boys Beer Market, Leeds. Clear, dark, cola brown. The light brown head whips up nicely, and gets sticky, and long lasting. Woody, earthy, roast malts. Spicy, ginger hop. Some tar. Leather. Dark chocolate. The aroma is big, but it’s not brassy. It all sits well. Taste is cocoa sweet. Robust, roast bitter, then more sweet on the lips. Smooth, silky, chewy palate. This is lovely, malty, thick, a bit hoppy, and very drinkable. Finishes light, roast bitter. Still has that sweetness on the lips. Bob on.

From a 33cl bottle, pours a deep black color with a nice thick tan head, leave a ring and some nice laces around. Aroma of nice dark chocolate, herbs, hops, spices. Flavors are nice dark chocolate, coffee, herbs, hops, spices, biscuits, grains, licorice. Nice medium to full body, with soft carbonation. Nice soft bitterness. With a dry yet creamy mouth feel, Great pleasant balance of flavors, warmth, nice alcohol finish. Very Pleasant.

On draft in snifter. The Green Flash Double Stout pours a very dark plumb to black with a thick frothy brown head that lasts a long while and leaves behind plenty of evidence of its existence. The aroma is loaded with malt with chocolate and caramel standing out, but I also notice some woodsy notes. The flavor is heavy on the chocolate with caramel and pine. Overall this is a very nice brew.

Pretty hefty stout. Black pour with a semi-thick brown head. The head left some really nice lacing around the glass. The nose is very rich, with plenty of cocoa, roasted malts, spicy hops and some dark fruit. The body is a little sweet and funky, but overall very delicious. I noted some coffee, cocoa, fruity and dry hops, earthy and bready malts and a hint of cream.

(Green Flash Double Stout) Bottle, 355 ml, served into a snifter, ABV 8.8% Black colour on the body, tal, thick and creamy brown head, with very good retention, leaving medium lacing behind as it collapses. Aroma of chocolate, quite some alcohol, faint vanilla. Taste follows, lots of chocolate and more vanilla now, notable alcohol, nice bitter finish following to the aftertaste, liquorice. Thick body, soft carbonation, sticky on the palate. To be honest I didn’t expect it to be*that* good, very nice.

Pours black with a brown light head that laces the stemware from tap. Pretty thin mouth feel with bubbly but not intense carbonation. Taste is really smokau and chalky. Intensely roasted malts. Slightly sweet. Aroma is a little sweet and chocolate.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours pitch black with a dark, thick, frothy head. Awesome head retention. There is some black licorice in the aroma along with dark chocolate and toasted malt. Light notes of caramel are sprinkled throughout. A touch of grass in the background. Some heavy dark fruit mixed with dark chocolate in the flavor. Caramel is much more prevalent here with a smoothe dark roast holding just the slightest bit of coffee notes. Moderate bitterness cleaning things up towards the finish. Overall, a pretty good beer. I love the English touches although I must say I still prefer Samuel smith
