East Village Pilsner -
What Fizzy Yellow Beer should be!

I believe that "Fizzy Yellow Beer" can and should be full of life and flavor unlike domestic mass produced, mundane, lifeless, boring, bland, fizzy yellow, insipid swill that takes up cooler space and tap handles at our local markets, pubs and restaurants. San Diegoís East Village is full of life and Green Flash is adding flavor to this burgeoning neighborhood with "East Village Pilsner". Itís made from premium European Pilsner Malt and Noble Hops. Traditional Pilsner lager yeast ferments the beer and imparts a clean flavor, yet unique character during the one-month lagering period. Of course our East Village Pilsner has a bit more hop than even the best European examples, which makes it truly a Green Flash Original. 5.3% ABV Ė 35 IBUs.

From a tap, looks like water with a hint of yellow, clear, i really do not care for this beer even if it is for a good cause.

On tap from a keg labeled "East Village Pilsner". Clear yellow color. Good foamy big white head, leaves good lace. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Not as fizzy as the name might lead you to believe, definitely nothing like the macros, actually kind of a nice texture. Medium body, more dry texture. Aroma is bready and lagery. Not over-hopped, pretty clean aroma, light bitter, hint of skunk, light metal. Pretty drinkable and inoffensive overall, thatís the best I think I can hope for from fizzy yellow beer.

On tap at Birch and Barley. Pours a bit of a deep gold with some spitty, white head. Nose is nice, yeasty, bready, some citrus punching through, grass. Flavor was the same, grassy, meyer lemon, white bread crust, yeasty dough. Medium bodied, clean dry finish. Very nice.

Fizzy goodness. Good body (not as much as mama's) but excellent! Would recommend. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Name appropriate...accept at least they add some decent hops. Itís still a too lagerific for me, but at least itís fresh and has a little pop.

Enjoyed a pint of this beer on tap in San Diego. The beer had a clear solid gold color with a good-sized foamy white head with good retention, lacing, and cling. Its aroma was a light mix of sour grainy and earthy notes with subtle bits of yeast, floral, and straw components. The taste was crisp and had a lightly sweet fruit effect with a touch of lemon and a very light grainy bitterness. The body of the beer was light and zesty on the palate with low carbonation, and was a touch watery with a thin and light mouthfeel.

(Draught, labeled East Village Pilsner) Pours a clear yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of grain, lemongrass, florals, grain, and light white pepper. Flavor of grain, lemongrass, and earthiness with a dry, crisp bitterness in the finish.
