East Village Pilsner -
What Fizzy Yellow Beer should be!

I believe that "Fizzy Yellow Beer" can and should be full of life and flavor unlike domestic mass produced, mundane, lifeless, boring, bland, fizzy yellow, insipid swill that takes up cooler space and tap handles at our local markets, pubs and restaurants. San Diego’s East Village is full of life and Green Flash is adding flavor to this burgeoning neighborhood with "East Village Pilsner". It’s made from premium European Pilsner Malt and Noble Hops. Traditional Pilsner lager yeast ferments the beer and imparts a clean flavor, yet unique character during the one-month lagering period. Of course our East Village Pilsner has a bit more hop than even the best European examples, which makes it truly a Green Flash Original. 5.3% ABV – 35 IBUs.

Pretty much, its what it states a fizzy yellow pilsner with decent grassy and yeasty flavor. Better than a lot of pilsners, but decent overall.

On tap at Green Flash as East Village Pils. Pours with a crystal clear pale golden hued body with a white head that lasts and leaves good lace. Aromas are floral, bready, grainy malt. Some honey notes, medium hops. Pils like malt character. Flavors are grainy, grassy, herbal hops, bready. Dry and extremely clean with a slightly bitter balance. Lively bubbles, dry, crisp and bitter. As it should be; a good pils.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark orange gold with a 4 finger creamy white head. Aromas of bread and grass. Med body. Flavor is bready and herby/grassy. Finishes a little sweet but well balanced by bitter. Tastes good.

On tap at Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours golden with a huge off-white head and a fruity aroma. There is a nice pilsner malt base that’s a little bit fruity with a dry bitter hop finish. Very refreshing on a hot day.

On draft at the Brass Tap, poured a clear golden yellow color, aromas of biscuts, grass, light floral hops and some grain. Flavor is the same, classic pils taste, decent beer.

Draft sample. Poured clear yellow color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced flavor with a medium balanced finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Tap. Pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma is of grassy and floral hops, sweet malts and some biscuitty notes. The flavor follows the nose, super grassy and floral with the biscuit and sweet malts. The body is light with a dry mouth feel. Overall a solid Lager.

Pint @ Birdsall House in Peekskill, NY. This is a solid pilsener with some surprisingly strong hop flavors than your typical pilsener. Clean, refreshing with floral and citrus notes. Good session beer.
