COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
East Village Pilsner -
What Fizzy Yellow Beer should be!

I believe that "Fizzy Yellow Beer" can and should be full of life and flavor unlike domestic mass produced, mundane, lifeless, boring, bland, fizzy yellow, insipid swill that takes up cooler space and tap handles at our local markets, pubs and restaurants. San Diego’s East Village is full of life and Green Flash is adding flavor to this burgeoning neighborhood with "East Village Pilsner". It’s made from premium European Pilsner Malt and Noble Hops. Traditional Pilsner lager yeast ferments the beer and imparts a clean flavor, yet unique character during the one-month lagering period. Of course our East Village Pilsner has a bit more hop than even the best European examples, which makes it truly a Green Flash Original. 5.3% ABV – 35 IBUs.

Pours a fuzzy yellow color with a corn and hay aroma. Taste is simple with a light malt and minor earth flavor. Some remnants of hops in the aftertaste but it dissipated rather quickly. This is a simple easy drinking pilsner that has some farm like flavors.

Type: Draft Glass: 0.5L (16.9 oz.) glass From: Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $4.00 (with progressive Friday) Purchased: Feb. 21, 2014 Consumed: Feb. 21, 2014 Misc.: N/A Poured a golden yellow hazy color with three fingers of frothy white head. Lots of layered foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention all the way down. Smelled cereal, sourdough bread, honey, grassy hops, wheat, corn, bubblegum, light citrus and lemon. Tasted similar to the nose, but a bit stronger. Fairly dry malts. Honey, sourdough, bread, grass, corn and faint booziness. Light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Semi-abrupt finish. This was a very good pilsner. I’d have it again for sure if I was in the mood.

one of the best American pilsners I’ve had. Haven’t checked to see if my rating reflects it, but this one is pretty nice. Not overly hoppy. It pours very pale with a thin head- so much so that it could be mistaken for a Budweiser at first glance. Fortunately the comparison stops there. Not too far from a true pilsner.

Growler from Whole Foods. Pours a light gold, nice head, very slight head. Aroma is hoppy and grassy, with a bit of grain. Flavor is a match. Sort of a German style pils in the hopping, but has just a bit of lingering sweetness on the finish that is more Czech in nature. Thoroughly enjoyable, love a good pils.

Tap. Nice and mild. Pretty decent. Not my favorite style, but smooth. San Diego super chargers.

Tap. Clear yellow pour with a white froth of foam. Toasted malt and light bitterness in the aroma. Taste is clean, dry malt with grain and moderate bitterness. Clean mouthfeel. Okay for the style.
