3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 aleph (231) - - MAY 20, 2012Draught @ Green Flash. Looks as it’s named. Malts, nuts, bread, hint of hops, grass. Unbalanced, perhaps, profiles unmatched.

From fermentation lounge under an alias - don’t remember what name. Grain and funk aroma. Tastes cereal sweet and lemon bitter. Skunk vibe. Not great - certainly by green flash standards. 5.8

Apparently not retired. It’s a good noble hoppy (and very hopppy) and smooth drinking amero-pils.

On tap at brewery. Pours a light yellow with a small white head with some lacing and nice looking carbonation. Aroma is of pils malt, bready malts, grass, and some light spicy saaz hop. Taste is similar to aroma but also has some light fruits and pine. Has a medium body with a creamy mouthfeel an a dry, slightly bitter, moderate-short finish. Overall, a nice pils that is a nice change of pace from green flash’s typical offerings.

This was billed as Green Flash East Village Pilsner on tap at Maxs on Broadway in Baltimore. Very nice clean refreshing pilsner, with good flavor. Recommended for a pilsner on a hot summer day.

September 9th, 2011 - Green Flash’s cover of the Bohemian Pilsner is a hopped up, souped up take on a classic style. I had this sample from the taster room, and it made for a great opening round in a fun evening of beer tasting in Green Flash’s capacious brewing facility. Like most other pilasters, it pours with a generous and enveloping ashen white head, and perfumes the top of the glass with a dry pilsner malt scent. The flavor is anything but traditional - lots of pilsner malts offers a deep, rich flavor that the style sometimes skimps on. I also like that I can’t taste any of the corniness I often detect in pilsners. However, like many other beers in this vein, where the Fizzy Yellow Beer offers a wonderful alternative to adjunct beers or any of the macro selections, it is still best enjoyed while paired with either a big, bold meal or a hot day. By itself, the Fizzy Yellow Beer is not especially engaging. A sampler size was enough to whet my palate, and motivate me to move onto greener, or browner, pastures along the Green Flash’s line of offerings.

On tap at Engine 15. So-so drinking beer. No aroma. Light yellow with a lace sheet. Bland though a dry lightly hopped finish was pleasant.

Draft at Fermentation. Clear yellow pour with a frothy white head. Aroma of grainy malts, yeastiness and floral hopiness. Flavor is crisp and clean with some backing bready sweetness and floral hopiness. Clean quick ending and medium light bodied. I can get down with this.
