Received this in trade with Jvillefan earlier this year... Thanks a bunch Michael, this was REALLY well done. Looks like a light cola on the pour... tan head with spotty lacing. Nose is pretty proper... balanced acetic/fruity notes... dark cherries and plum.. bourbon is there but shows as more of a vanilla presence. If you subtract the barrel presence, this is a better Flanders Red than many of the Continental versions that limp to our local shelves. Again very fruity with the expected acetic/tannic wine notes... fermented out sweet cherries with underripe plums. The barrels add an all encompassing vanilla character.. A residual sweetness adds to the body... good bubbles lead to a bit of a burpy burn for me. This is a winner... Damn happy I was able to try it... Thanks a bunch Michael... You are a fantastic trader.

3 oz pour at Hops & Pie. Aroma of red fruits, sour berries, light oak, light vanilla and a hint of bourbon. Similar flavor, sour and barrel complexities with hints of bourbon spice and a tart, lingering finish. Nice.

A red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, berries, malt, and malt. The flavor is acidic with notes of vinegar, malt, brettanomyces, berries, and yeast, leading to a tart finish.

Bottle sampled at a tasting. Dark ruby pour with a small tan head. Smells of cherries, rosé wine, vanilla and bourbon. Tastes like vinegar, vanilla, macerated cherries and bourbon barrel. Excellent.

Dark ruby color with light brown head. Aroma has tart fruits, balsamic vinegar and bourbon. Taste is really sour, acetic, astringent with nice bourbon and caramel in the background. Body is light, dry and astringent with a good amount of carbonation. Really nice, complex taste.

Poured from bomber bottle into snifter. Pours a slightly cloudy cherry juice maroon with white head. Aroma of sour cherry, cherry pits, and maybe some nutmeg underneath. Taste is bright medium tart cherry, somewhat bready, and a touch of cinnamon. Really nice!

Corked/caged bomber into snifter glass, rusty-amber color with light tan head. Aroma notes of musty wood, bright berries, red wine, vanilla and sour funk. Taste adds more almost balsamic vinegar, wood, white sugar, allspice and maraschino cherries. Light body, low-moderate carbonation, astringent, with lingering tart cherry caramel fruit finish. Intense cherry forward sour.

OnTap hazy light brown, Persistent tan head. Classic woody dark pitted fruit tart aroma. Rather sharp and acidicflavors. And then the warm woody sour notes come though. Dryer and more aggressive than many Flanders’. Bold and sharp. Rather harsh acidic bite in theback of the throat at the end.

75cl bottled April 2015, kindly shlepped and shared by oldmanriver@impuritylaw’s hosted Cellarclearing 2, I/2016, merci. As Cellar 3 Flanders Drive. - Woody vanilla over upfront lacto (yoghurt, whey), loads of balsamico rosso in aroma, composed as a friendly invite more so than ripened as an organic invitation. - Lacto-pedio-brett come to play upon the engineer’s invitation in a red berry yoghurt pool, before the kids’ pool is filled with raspberry juice and the near 7ABV falls flatter on its ass. - Some very enjoyable flavours in an unrounded sour with some rough edges. Very interesting to drink a glass of, - grateful to share to bottle.
