On tap at Hamilton’s for their 2nd Saturday Celebration. Pretty tasty. Heavy, yet light on the palate. This is one of those creepers beers that tastes so good that you drink more and then you repeat that process until you fall off your stool or pee all over yourself.

I heard rumor that this is the Reaper Ritual ale done with a Belgian yeast strain. Your mileage may vary on the authenticity of that. Nonetheless, this was very delicious.

From tap at the brewery. Pours sliht hazy black to brown with a lacing tan head. Spiced and roasted malt aroma. Smooth roasted malt and light hoppy base flavour. Light liqourice and fruity yeasty belgian base flavour. Smooth yeasty and slight roasted malty finish.

Tap at City Beer. Pours with a drak brown color and a small head. Aroams of candied sugar and strong malts. To me this is not a Quadrupel Belgian but rather an American Old Ale, almost a Barleywine. Very sweet, with strong malts and very little to notice of a Belgian yeast strain. Very chewy, almost cloying, one cannot drink a whole lot of it.

Draught, Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2008. Head is mostly lasting. Body is medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel, popcorn), with notes of diacetyl, apple, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Typical American slant on a Belgian strong...sweet and thick without much finesse. Not very enjoyable.

Golden-brown colour. Dark fruits and olives on the nose with raisins, dark sugars and bubblegum. Thick, sweet sugar taste with light raisin and fruit. Typical oversweet American Belgian attempt..I will never like this type of unbalanced beer.

Tap at Mugs Ale House: Cola looking pour with a weak tan ring for head. Smells like toasted bubblegum and fig. Very sweet Belgian yeast character. Kinda fluffy feeling with an extremely candy-like sweet flavor. Maple, bubblegum, candi-sugar and a late subtle roasted hint. Too sweet to have any nuances/complexities, or be easily quaffed. Eh...
