Tap @ Blind Tiger. Pours a deep reddish-brown with a slight off-white head. Aroma is almost exclusively malt and licorice. Taste is dark fruit up front dissolving into crystal malt and a nice hop/licorice aftertaste. Not the usual Grand Cru but a very pleasant beer nonetheless.

Aug 6, 2008 From tap at the brewery. Pours sliht hazy black to brown with a lacing tan head. Spiced and roasted malt aroma. Smooth roasted malt and light hoppy base flavour. Light liqourice and fruity yeasty belgian base flavour. Smooth yeasty and slight roasted malty finish.

Jul 27, 2008 Tap at City Beer. Pours with a drak brown color and a small head. Aroams of candied sugar and strong malts. To me this is not a Quadrupel Belgian but rather an American Old Ale, almost a Barleywine. Very sweet, with strong malts and very little to notice of a Belgian yeast strain. Very chewy, almost cloying, one cannot drink a whole lot of it.

Head is mostly lasting.
Body is medium brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel, popcorn), with notes of diacetyl, apple, alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Typical American slant on a Belgian strong...sweet and thick without much finesse. Not very enjoyable.

May 11, 2008 Golden-brown colour. Dark fruits and olives on the nose with raisins, dark sugars and bubblegum. Thick, sweet sugar taste with light raisin and fruit. Typical oversweet American Belgian attempt..I will never like this type of unbalanced beer.

May 7, 2008 Tap at Mugs Ale House: Cola looking pour with a weak tan ring for head. Smells like toasted bubblegum and fig. Very sweet Belgian yeast character. Kinda fluffy feeling with an extremely candy-like sweet flavor. Maple, bubblegum, candi-sugar and a late subtle roasted hint. Too sweet to have any nuances/complexities, or be easily quaffed. Eh...
