COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Belgian Style Dark Ale is inspired by traditional Abbey Ales to deliver the richest of malt flavors but with a slightly elevated hopping and increased complexity given from two different yeast strains. This malt laden ale is designed to satiate and keep your taste buds dancing.

One year old bottle pours a medium reddish brown with a little eggshell fizz. The aroma is a nice rich roasted malty brew with an herbal hint. The flavor is rich and malty, kind of chalky grains with a good bit of depth and roast. A nice light chocolate with whole grain bread feel. The hops are still well in the mix, an earthy herbal and dried flowers. Moderate carbonation leaves it feeling full and lingering on the tongue but with some dryness. Nice brew, did well to age one year.

Had on draft at the brewery. Fruity, spicy/clove, solventy, malty, Belgian yeast character, nice overall.

Biggish beige head. Clear deep dark brown body with lots of little particles floating. Roasty minty toffee aroma with fruity spicy notes. Dry-sweet roasty cardamom taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild mouthfeel with slight heat. Dry-sweet soy sauce and resin aftertaste with roasty cardamom notes. Nice, but a bit too spicy. (0.355l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)

750ml bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with a lasting beige head that leaves excellent lacing. Aroma is roasty malt, vanilla and molasses. Taste is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Light to medium body, creamy texture, average to soft carbonation and a long lightly bitter finish. Hides the alcohol very well. Excellent!

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/30/2012. Pours lightly cloudy dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of raisin, fig, plum, pear, caramel, toast, chocolate, clove, pepper, dark candi sugar, dark bread, light roast, light banana, floral, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, fig, plum, pear, caramel, chocolate, clove, pepper, toast, dark candi sugar, dark bread, light roast, light banana, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, caramel, toast, chocolate, clove, pepper, dark bread, dark candi sugar, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity/balance and solid robustness of dark malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a nice malt/spiciness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian dark ale. Good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester flavors; and smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

22oz bottle - Iíve been lucky enough to have this in the bottle and on tap. Itís a solid BSA and just a little bit better on tap than in the bottle. The body is dark brown with a thinnish tan head. A spicy aroma gives way to a lightly roasted malt nose, subtle dried fruits and a noticeable herbal hoppy note. The flavor boasts a strong malt base, spice cake flavors, caramel, and light molasses. A silky mouthfeel. Very solid.

Bottle at Euston Tap. Sweet and dry, with a hint of currant. Very dark red-brown with a creamy but fleeting head. Has a nice tang to it. Sweet aroma, fruity, light licorice. Nice stuff.

A leathery, roast, mustard seed, almost savory aroma. Conical embossed bottle, bad label. Very dark beer - canít really see through it, but Iím drinking it in a snifter. Sticky tan head that coats the side of the glass. Astringent, dry, a little creosotic with some candied and herbal notes. Wierd bittering. Burns the esophagus. My overall impression is anything but Belgian, and more like day-old, stale coffee. Itís a bit of a golem - crudely executed and brought to production. I was expecting more and was disappointed. ABC, Betton.
