Our Belgian Style Dark Ale is inspired by traditional Abbey Ales to deliver the richest of malt flavors but with a slightly elevated hopping and increased complexity given from two different yeast strains. This malt laden ale is designed to satiate and keep your taste buds dancing.

Bottle. 2/15/13. Pours very dark, slightly clear dark brown with a fluffy, beige head, a finger and a half worth. Aroma is spicy, Belgian yeast, fruit, caramel, banana. Taste is pretty great; spicy, bitter, sweet, fruity, grass, some Belgian yeast (not overpowering), bitter dark chocolate finish. Chewy mouth feel; excellent. Nice lacing. Medium carbonation is nice. There is a lot of fruitiness here, in the nose and the taste. Dark fruits and berries, and while sweet, it still maintains a nice dryness.

Deep, dark fruity flavors on top of a caramel malt. Smooth and full, fairly strong, just a bit of hoppy bitterness.

Dark brown pour with one finger of off white head. Aroma is bread with caramel and a bit of roasted cereal. Slight yeast and hop as well. Flavor is light to moderate with a slight booze finish. Delicious beer.

On tap at Dexters, pours a dark brownish red with a light brown head, the aroma is really sweet, dark fruit and malt, the flavor is very sweet too, lots of Belgian candy notes with some dark fruit and yeast, abv is pretty hidden behind all the sugar like flavors, meh.

Brown colour, some beige foam. Medium body, medium carbonation. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar and hops. Balance between sweet and bitter. Good but nothing special.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber ruby color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel with weak hints of dark fruit. Slightly sweetish malty spicy caramel bitter flavor with weak trash hints. Had a sweetish malty spicy bitter caramel finish.

average frothy offwhite head. good lacing. mostly diminishing. flat thick brownish-black body. aroma: heavy malty, dark chocolate, mild coffee, dried banana, raisin, brown sugar. if: moderate sweet ilght bitter. ff: moderate sweet bitter light acidic; long duration. palate: medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, light alcoholic finish.

Murky brown, a finger of beige head, not the prettiest. More hop aromas than I would expect from a Belgian style Dark. Fruity aromas of orange and darker fruits like fig. Taste is malty sweet and hoppy bitter, better as it warms. I’m not a fan of the extra hopping, but I guess I would expect it from Green Flash, but one of the weaker beers I’ve had from them which is disappointing, especially since its called "Grand Cru".
