3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Poured brilliant golden with a sticky, well-retained white head. The aroma picked up fresh orange, pineapple, and grassy hoppage over fairly soft biscuit and honeyed malts.. peppery and assertive on the back of the nose. The flavor found a bitter blend of citrus and grassy hops paired with peppery alcohol throughout.. the base was simple and a touch on the sweet side, and it worked sufficiently.. spicy and a bit boozy on the long, belly-warming finish. Heavier-bodied and the alcohol amplified the bitterness too much in a few places on the palate.. overall a decent flow.. good beer.

Some of the Green Flash kegs in Chicago have been stale and sweet tasting. This one is candied orange and stale bread.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Flanny’s in Tempe during the tap takeover. It pours with a clear copper body that supports a thin white head. The aroma is full up fir tree reminding me of the first time I tried Winter Yulesmith. Behind the big sap, pine cone and pine needle hop notes I get a modest amount of sweetness and a light sense of booze. The taste is full and big with robust levels of malt sweetened fir tree and pine sap hoppiness. The hops have loads of both flavor and bitterness. It then rolls toward a pleasing smooth fairly thick sweet malty body finish. Yummy relaxing sipper. Dig it! If you’re in the mood for something tame and subtle try a different beer.

Bottle at Andy’s for New Years Eve. Pours a clear golden orange with a thin to medium sized white head. Big bold caramel and citrus on the nose, a huge toffee and baking cookies note. Medium-bodied, aggressive hops, long lingering grapefruit finish with some warming alcohol. Nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a near clear golden amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has bitter pine and citrus with backing notes of sweet grain, caramel and musty tropical fruits. Flavor starts with bitter pine hops but finish has notes if earthy citrus, earthy tropical fruits and sweet grains.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at The Lackman, served in a snifter. Pours a clear, deep gold with a small white head that leaves streaks in the glass. Aroma of marijuana, very herbal and peppery - maybe it’s the ’Green Bullet’ name, but this has me thinking of straight hop pellets. Same in the flavor, which has onion, herbs, and chives. Medium-bodied, with a bitter, herbal mouthfeel that has balancing malts and a boozy finish. Moderate carbonation. Big, interesting double IPA. Better than indicated by the word of mouth I’ve heard recently.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Big piney and resiny nose, slight cat urine too.   Bright amber in color, thin foamy white head, light lacing, lighter carbonation.   Strong pithy bitterness up front, very light tropical fruit, thankfully no cat urine.   Hard to believe this is 10.1% as it hides it very well.   This is a bit hopsided as it dominates over the malts.   Not overbalanced at all, but its a hop head beer for sure.   Very bright.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Great beer, a hop bruiser, but holds the alcohol in very well.   A hopheads dream beer I must say!   Clean, long bitter finish.
