2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
9/20/2013: Green Flash Green Bullet... H-O-L-Y--S-H-I-T! This beer is just so far over-the-top itís ridiculous and I donít necessarily mean that in a good way. After the Southern Tier Warlock blew, they put on a keg of this. I was happy to try it, especially since everybody else was so excited by the beer, but Iím not as enamored with it as them. So much so that I had a few samples just to make sure I wasnít missing anything. Iíll be honest, this beer is an illustration of when more is not necessarily better. They managed to cram so many hops into this beer that it smells like cheese - that pungenty aroma hops get when they oxidize. To me, no pine, citrus, or tropical fruits that I now see mentioned in the deScription that I would have really liked to have in the actual beer. I did get some apricot in the finish, but thatís about it besides the alcohol. Donít get me wrong, this beer has a substantial level of bitterness, but it isnít a bright or clean bitterness and it is just a confusing assault of flavors that arenít harmonious. To top it off, the alcohol just oozes out of the flavor. This beer is not to be taken lightly in any regard; itís a mouthful of malt, HOPS, and alochol. Itís dangerous and can definitely knock you down. Apparently Iím one of the few there (the only one, actually) that didnít really think that this beer was all that and a bag of chips. Guess I miss out, but no biggie since I have plenty of other beer to drink anyway! Draught sample(s) at Party Town in Florence, KY. Rating #90 for this beer.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a couple of four packs I had tried this beer at howell and hood like a year ago but I had drunk so much i didnít remember it so Iíve been seeking it out lately and i happened upon a couple of 4 packs at Binnyís evergreen. Sticky, creamy, hoppy (not to mention smitty), piney, strong, and some new dwarves tropical and juicy. This was worth the wait and all the places I went to that said they had this and didnít.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a cloudy, deep golden orange color with dark golden yellow edges and a one finger, frothy white head that very slowly settles into a lasting ring. Very good retention with streaks of lacing left behind.
Very dank and floral hop aroma with some grassy, earthy pine and a nice tropical/citrus fruit presence countered by a sweet malt backbone. Resinous oils along with hints of kind bud, fresh cut grass and pine needle followed by grapefruit, mango and orange peel. Some sweet caramel malt along with toffee, biscuit and graham cracker. Malts are subtle however and donít at all interfere with the hop character.
Medium body with a blast of dry hop bitterness that lingers over tropical/citrus fruit and caramel malt sweetness into a bone dry finish. Complex hop profile with dry, earthy bitterness and resinous oil/pine needle flavor followed by juicy tropical and citrus fruit sweetness. Strong grapefruit, pineapple, mango and orange zest character balancing things out with much needed sweetness. Sweet caramel malt backbone with honts of toffee, biscuit, hazelnut and slight dark fruit notes. Some alcohol heat in the finish but overall the high ABV is decently masked. In these high ABV triple IPAs the alcohol/ethanol flavored often kills off the hops but itís nicely integrated into the finish of this beer. Complex, flavorful and decently drinkable for itís strength. A touch too malty for my liking but still a very solid beer.

Copper, mid amber colour. Weedy aroma, floral but oddly bubblegummy sweet. Sticky, resinous palate, perfect carbonation for strong IPA to cut through hop bitterness. Some caramel notes from malt and slightly heavier body than average strong IPA. Great.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep goldish orange with a tiny white head. First impression of the nose is very Belgian, like Westmalle Tripel or Duvel Triple Hop. Good yeast character with some mango and pineapple present. Boozy on the nose as well. Alcohol stands out pretty clearly on the palate. Quite a lot of bitterness that is noticeable on the finish. A big, bold beer with a high ABV that doesnít necessarily come together perfectly.
