3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 popery (1119) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 11, 2013
On tap at Toronado (SF). Pours a nice medium amber with a soapy white head, a film of fine bubbles. The aroma is pretty standard green flash hoppiness. Good citrus hops with a nice honey malt backbone. Some tropical fruits also pop up with a touch of sweet wood in the background. Taste adds a lot more cedar. Hops are a bit bland but the cedar flavor is really nice. It’s like I’m drinking an IPA in a cedar closet. Relatively dry. The cedar contributes a very pleasant flavor that blends into the hop bitterness quite well. Mouthfeel is pretty normal. Medium carbonation. Mild astringency from the wood. Better than expected. I really like the cedar.

Pours a copper orange with a small white head. Aroma is of citrus, pine, light cedar, and some sweet malts. Taste is similar but has more cedar. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a slightly dry, woody, medium finish. Overall, a pretty tasty and very unique APA.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Suttree (4452) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 24, 2013
I like cedar flavors in Pale Ales. This is a pale ale, and it has cedar flavors, so it stands to reason that I would like this. This would be a correct assumption. I did, in fact, like this. Sampled at 2013 ENBF.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Butters (3320) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Sampled at Raleigh Rare and Vintage 2013. AS Green Flash Cedar Plank Pale Ale. Clear amber pour with whitish head. HUGE nose of cedar spiciness that actually did compliment the good citrusy aroma quite nicely. The flavor was not enjoyable though. Interesting, but certainly not something I would search out again.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheRealMGD (540) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Tap @ Toronado. Clear, orange-gold pour with a short, persistent off-white head leaving heavy lace. Nose is spicy wood with some resin and toast. Medium body with moderate, fine carbonation. Cedar, toast, cedar, pine resin, cedar, orange zest and...cedar. Finish is cedar sawdust with woody spices. I like it, but it’s so unbalanced that I can understand someone hating this one - a marmite ale.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 OldGrowth (2104) - North Carolina, USA - FEB 20, 2013
Pint at Tylers Apex. Good aroma, cedar, sweet. Cedar, pepper, orange. Good head and lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Medium body. Creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish.. well, ya gotta like cedar, and I do, so darn tasty and fun. Putting rating here as no other listing. Told it was suppose to be at .Raleigh rare beer fest, but didn’t make it.

Draft at stone bistro. Pours a yellow Orange, with a slight haze and a white head. Grapefruit, citrusy hops, caramel, woody cedar, peppery, and lightly biscuity. The cedar is noticeable, but more restrained than other cedar beers I have tried. Pretty good.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 badlizard (5156) - Berkeley, California, USA - FEB 12, 2013
On tap at Beer Revolution. Clear golden with a thin fizzy white head. Sweet woody citrus hops aroma. Cereal grain, cedar, caramel, and bitter citrus taste with a dry bitter bite to the finish. Fantastic brew.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 emacgee (3433) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - FEB 5, 2013
Soft clear gold pour. Hoppy nose with notes of cedar/wood, spicy. Blends well with the citrusy aspect of the base beer. Dry in the mouth, wood definitely amplifies that. Peppery/spicy with a dry citric character. I enjoyed this more than most (all) cedar beers I’ve had.
