I really love this beer. If I could get this on a regular basis it would constantly be in my fridge, but that isn’t the case, so I only get it whilst traveling. The beer pour copper / bronze with a soapy light tan head. The aroma has lots of spruce and citric hops and lightly bready caramel malt that is very nice. This has both full malt and hearty hops. Medium prickly resiny body with perfectly sharp carbonation. The flavor begins with earthy, piny and grapefruit hops then some dry smooth caramel malt. The finish has a nice blen of heavily toasted malt and bold hoppiness. Thumbs way up for this truly great beer.

Pours dark mahogany with a soft off-white head. Good balance between the malts and hops. Warm caramel flavors finished off with a grapefruit hop finish. Crisp and bitter, with a bit of resiny hops in the finish.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Hazy red with nice tan head and lace. Mild fresh hop and earthy aroma. Mild toasted caramel and fruit with medium bitter lingering finish. Medium body with slight wateriness. Medium carbo. A nice session beer but nothing special. Lacking the malt flavor I expected.

Bottle from State Line in Elkton, MD. Pours a deep amber red with an off white, retentive head. Nice lacing. Caramel and citrusy nice. Caramel malt base, with some husky grain countered by a big grapefruit and pine bitterness. Hoppy finish is dry, earthy, with a lingering tea like bitterness. Amber? RRRRRIGHT. Maybe to San Diego standards. No complaints though.

12oz bottle. Pours a murky dark amber with one finger tan head and nice lacing. Nose is malt and pine for the most part. Taste is caramel malt, grapefruit and a big resiny pine finish that lingers. A lot of hoppy goodness in this one. Full mouth feel. Great amber!

12 oz bottle thanks to OldStyleCubFan my summer santa! Smooth and ejoyable summer beer. A nice deep red color with a thin white head. Aroma of spicy hops mostly fresh simcoe hops with some malt sweetness coming through. Moderate grapefruit tea and earthy flavors round to a soft sweet caramel ending. Medium bodied and smooth, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. Thanks again OSCF! Go Cubbies!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very hazy amber pour, with a soapy head, and loads of large sediment flakes floating around - huge, earthy amarillo hops aroma, with undercurrents of pine, and sweet hints of caramel, oats, brown sugar - the flavor is slightly oxidized, so this may be a somewhat old bottle (though it has only been on the shelf at my local store for about 3 weeks) - very strong bitterness that manages not to become astringent, despite the fact that the beer never gets particularly sweet - very resinous and piny - the malt base is mostly biscuit/cracker-like in character, with just a light hint of caramel sweetness - nicely balanced despite its assertive bitterness.

Really one of the better ambers out there but I have to say still not the same as my Seattle Fav Mac & Jacks. Pours chunky amber with a giant head. that turns rocky. Aroma is piny hops. Flavor is slightly bitter, caramel sweetness and piny finish. Nice combo of IPA with an amber. Very good
