merlin48 (509), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Jan 11, 2009 Hoppy red ale with pine and grapefruit notes pushing into IPA territory. Attractive copper body is slightly hazed underneath a medium beige head that laces well. Just a hint of caramel in the taste to balance the assertive hop bitterness. Highly drinkable. lassem (296), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 11, 2009 Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a dark amber with a neat offwhite head. The nose is dominated of that caracteristic flowery amarillo, but also of some roasted malts, and citrusnotes. The flavour is mild and sweet with a light bitterness. The bitterness in the finish has a little more bite though. I taste honey, hops en’ mas some roasted malts, vanilla. The answer to if this is a red IPA is in my opinion...yepper.. ift it not, I dont know what is. Fresh, light and very drinkable. MattShizzle (385), Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 10, 2009 Bottle. Dark copper color - somewhat cloudy. Strong aroma of hops. Intensely hoppy flavor. This definitely is a beer for hopheads. j12601 (1153), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear deep copper color with sediment throughout, and a monstrous light mocha head which tests the limits of surface tension as it pushes up high above the glass. Ample lacing. Rich resin filled hops would comprise the entirety of the aroma were it not for a rich toasty caramel note hiding in the background. Bitter flavor right up at the front of a medium mouthfeel with just a hint of sweetness in the middle. The finish rather creeps up on you with a slow subtle grapefruit note. I don’t get much sweetness in here to balance out the hops, but personally, that’s not something I mind. pjweaver (133), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2009 Pint glass from bottle. Pours a red caramel color with a fluffy soapy head. Crisp fresh hop aroma, some citrus, warm and rich. Dull blunted hop bitterness on taste, grassy hops, toasty bitterness. WeeHeavySD (2942), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jan 4, 2009 12oz from the bottle at Bartzilla’s house. Hoppy nose, with a touch of malt. Decent hopped up taste. beer23 (1), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count Dec 30, 2008 Bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester NY. Nice hop character for an Amber Ale. Caramel malty after taste though. A very smooth red/amber ale with a nice hop presence. jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 30, 2008 Dark brown color with a quickly dissipating tan head. Big hop character for this amber ale. Add some hops to your typical amber characteristics of caramel a little nuttiness and some red fruit and you get this beer. Grassy aroma and you are reminded of the hops again on the bitter metallic finish. Interesting flavor profile for sure.
