Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA Nov 1, 2008 Sampled at Bevmo. Pours dark red/amber with ample snow white head. Aroma of significant, but not overwhelming American hops. Taste is of nice hop complexity with some nice caramelly undertones. Pretty good. jeff789 (359), Pennsylvania, USA Oct 31, 2008 This is not nearly as hoppy as i was expecting... I was expecting something more along the Troegs Nugget Nectar line with a bit more malt backing... While this is excellent in its own right, it is not quite what i was expecting... kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 28, 2008 12 oz bottle, via cloudskipper. Pours a dark reddish amber with a large bubbled beige head that left a ton of lacing. Nice bright citrusy hops with a little bit of a resiny accent. Lots of caramel maltiness here too. Biting bitterness hits you right away and never lets go. The maltiness emerges mid swallow with some caramel and crystal malt. Pretty full bodied with a fairly thick texture and a slight resiny stickiness on the finish. Nice soft fizzy carbonation. A nice hoppy red, I almost always dig these. agl108 (503), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle at Zeno’s, Penn State. Poured deep red with off-white head. Malty with hoppy, bitter finish. Great balance. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 27, 2008 Pours a dark reddish amber with a small beige froth. Earthy aroma, dusty, light pine and a touch of peppercorn. Flavor is quite earthy, off-dry, medium bitterness, touch of caramel, pine needles and a bit of brown sugar. Medium bodied, with a big fluffy mouthful, lightly syrupy. Not the hop-bomb I was expecting. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Oct 27, 2008 12oz bottle. Ruby red with amber undertones and a frothy head. Great aroma. Tons of pine with a nice caramel note. Very flavorful. Pine and caramel malts are plentiful. Medium body with a dry finish. I’d drink this any day. kwoeltje (1313), Manchester, Missouri, USA Oct 26, 2008 (draught) deep amber with off white head. Strong aroma of pine hops. Flavor is pine hops, good malt backbone. pressboxjoe (69), , New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2008 Bottle. Deep caramel color, creamy off-white head. Aroma of hops, pine, cedar. Strong bitter flavor, some sourness, very much like an IPA. Secondary sweetness, but aftertaste definitely a woody bitterness. Fills the mouth. Some lacing. Maltiness greatly increases as beer warms.
