shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 8, 2008 12oz bottle. Fresh. Pours a deep amber with plenty of bubbles and a spotty head of off-white creamy lace. Aroma is a spicy hops and a full caramel backbone. I have to admit I really enjoy the juicy nature of Green Flash’s IPAs. This is more full flavored and rounded but I’m not sure I like it as much. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours a copper/amber color with a white head. Aroma of piny and citrus hops with a hint of caramel. Flavor is piny and floral hops with grapefruit, citrus, and a touch of caramel sweetness. Medium body with a dry hoppy finish. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Oct 7, 2008 Dark red with reddish tan head. Loads of pine and citrus in the aroma with some maple. Flavor is nice and piney with a smooth caramel backbone and some tart grapefruit. Pretty damn good. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Oct 5, 2008 Clear copper/red with a light tan head. Big piney hop aroma with ganja bud and sweet caramel. Medium body. Great hoppy pine forest and floral hop flavors riding a rich , sweet caramel malty base. Another tasty, hopped up amber ale ala Nugget Nectar. zach8270 (2053), Henrietta, New York, USA Oct 2, 2008 (bottle - 12 oz) Amber pour with a thick white head. Aroma is very piney and floral with lots of hops, sweetness, and some citrus notes. Flavor is hoppy at the beginning with a bitter and cloying middle and a bitter and dry finish. Some caramel throughout. Surprisingly run of the mill. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle - dark amber with white head; nice haze to it; raw, bitter, band aid aromas; drinks very bitter too; lots of pine hops and bitterness basically trumps everything; pretty blah overall; i was expecting something more along the lines of the Troegs HopBack danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Sep 26, 2008 Getting the notebook online. Bottle. Pours a crisp red tone. Flavors just not all there. some sweet caramel malts. Hops underwhelm greatly! An OK beer but didn’t live up to the billing.. Brigadier (1220), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Sep 25, 2008 12 oz bottle
This has been resting in the bottom of the fridge for about two months now ever since I found it on a beer run. After having the Imperial IPA I wanted to try this; Green Flash seems to know what they are doing regardless of the style. Snap it up while you can - this should be one that everyone tries at some point.
Aroma / Appearance - The rich ruby body held up a bubbly white head. Escaping from the glass was a combination of rye bread, nutty malts and woody cherries. At the same time hoppy and malty it was a treat for all senses.
Flavor / Palate - Starting from a hoppy introduction it makes itself known without being overly aggressive. From pine it relaxes into a lingering resin on the back of the throat. I might only be able to finish one because it straddles that line between amber ale and IPA but it would be time well spent.
