AlabastorJones (762), San Francisco, California, USA Sep 22, 2008 amber ale? really? it says red right on it... anyway, brown rouge without a head, mild amarillo nose, very similar to Ninkasi’s believer, but milder and less sweet, dry palate and hop finish, club soda carbonation, hints at citrus rind bitters, sort of that back of the palate bitter, nothing overly sweet fresh or fruity here, an interesting and worthy ale, but by no means an amber, I’ll blame ratebeer for that though and won;t hold it against the brew hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 22, 2008 Dark red body with a bubbly off white head. Aroma is a kick of piney hops with nice caramel notes. The flavor is a bit in the face with the pine, but definitely good. Comes through with a caramel backbone though. Finishes bitter and dry. Nice solid beer. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Sep 22, 2008 Pours out a very attractive reddish with a small to moderate off white head. Beautiful aroma of caramel with intense citrus/pine hops. Taste is complex caramel malts mix well with citrus hops to bring everything together. Dry hoppy finish, seems more than 45ibu. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Sep 22, 2008 pours a dark red brown with mild ehad, on draft, strong hop aroma. strong hoppy front to bitter finish and dry palate. hopy beer, showing in the dry bitterness. jonno (542), Brisbane, Australia Sep 21, 2008 Updated: Oct 26, 2008Wow can you say hops? sorry of course you can. THe hopping method used here really brings out a strong bitterness. Can’t see myself being able to drink more than one or two in a night though lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Sep 21, 2008 Style and Glass: Amber/Red Ale, Pint, Mug

Overall: a great IPA derivative, I would have it again in a heartbeat, it’s a favorite, high value, well crafted. 20 out of 20. kyzr (1119), Belgrade, Montana, USA Sep 20, 2008 Clear amber with tan head. Big hoppy nose. Flavor has a big hit of hops, then is balanced with a caramelized sugar and malt. Nice body with a dry hoppy finish. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 19, 2008 Pours a crystal clear ruby red with fantastic lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet & hoppy with lots of caramel. Great malty taste with crisp, sharp hopping and a very complex spicy aftertaste which lingers indefinitely. Body is creamy and thick with good carbonation. This has so much going on that it’s not really sessionable, which given the style is a bit odd, but still very tasty. A tad too dry for my taste, for a red ale.
