THe hopping method used here really brings out a strong bitterness. Can’t see myself being able to drink more than one or two in a night though lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Clear amber with tan head. Big hoppy nose. Flavor has a big hit of hops, then is balanced with a caramelized sugar and malt. Nice body with a dry hoppy finish. mgermani (864), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Pours a crystal clear ruby red with fantastic lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet & hoppy with lots of caramel. Great malty taste with crisp, sharp hopping and a very complex spicy aftertaste which lingers indefinitely. Body is creamy and thick with good carbonation. This has so much going on that it’s not really sessionable, which given the style is a bit odd, but still very tasty. A tad too dry for my taste, for a red ale. Sammy (3977), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Grapefruit aroma fom the fragrant amarillo. Initially big head. Smooth easy drinking, I can just picture the guzzlers downing 6-paks. A nice bitterness that is left on the aftertaste. Well balanced at 45 IBU. machfive55 (229), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Updated: Feb 1, 2009The beer poured more of an Amber than red with a small tan head and was hazy. The aroma was all hops with some piney notes. The flavor on first sip was mostly malty, caramelly with a hint of bitterness. As the beer warms the bitterness comes more apparent almost to the point where it is uncomfortable, which is the main problem I had with this beer. A decent beer, but not really my thing and I typically like hoppy beers. darn1207 (548), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
