tripelthreat (75), Soquel, California, USA Aug 27, 2008 Bottle. The usual reddish amber with a nice off-white head. Initial soft piney hop aroma with a touch of maltiness. Flavor is mostly piney hops with some roast and caramel malts in the background. Some light lacing left in the glass. An nice choice for an easy-to-drink IPA/IRA. 502Flavors (617), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Aug 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle into pint glass. Great clear dark copper color with a big frothy light tan head. Very balanced resinous hop aroma with a trace of malt in the background. The flavor is simple - all hops. There is a bit of a unique after taste on the finish that I cant really put my hands on, but I would personally call this one an IPA. The flavor is mostly resinous pine hops - nice and refreshing. Medium to light bodied on the palate with little to no carbonation. Overall: great simple (session worthy) beer. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Aug 23, 2008 Standard red-orange color, long-lasting medium piled head. Nicely roasty, milk-chocolatey aroma, spiky, skunky hops. Malty but balanced body, lots of cookie-like malts, moderate hop flavor. Acidic, citric hop notes balance it out. Very well balanced beer - delicious. HopBackDoc (393), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 Pours a deep garnet color with off-white head. Aroma is hops! Flavor is well balanced with some caramel malts and loads of hops. Earthy, resiny, piney hop flavors tingle through the taste buds. Full flavored brew, very delicious. I would call it a red IPA. DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 21, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours with not much carbonation. An off-white smallish head atop an opaque burnt dark red body. Nice color and good lacing despite the lack of carbonation. Aroma is floral, fruity hops with a substantial caramel background. Flavor is the same, mildly bitter with an intense maltiness. Grainy mouthfeel. This reminds me of Founder’s Red’s Rye slightly, though without the prominent rye I guess. This is pretty good but Green Flash has yet to blow me away. Fruitfly (59), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 South Philly Taproom. Pours a deep red amber with a small resilient tan head. Nose is a good range of citrus and piney hops. Nice balance for style. Doesn’t really stand as a beer I could have by itself and be completely satisfied. afireinside96 (817), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 20, 2008 12oz bottle served in a stem glass. Pours lightly hazed deep garnet topped by a dense off-white head. Big Amarillo nose of grapefruit and pine. Deep bitterness balanced by sweet caramel flavors, some pine and grapefruit as well. I agree with the rep IPA statement before me. And while it is good it needs something else to keep me coming back. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Naka. Pours red with light khaki head, one finger. Nose is all hops, citrus and pine. Taste is moderate bitter with a solid hop flavor, pine, citrus and mild resin with nice malt backbone, caramel with a mild chocolate flavor. Bitter lingers well into the after with some dank hoppiness. Very tasty "amber ale". More of a red IPA.
