zappafan99 (462), Alabama, USA Aug 9, 2008 Taste 8/8 (Bottle113-A2-1914) Looks: Deep copper body. Nice, lacing tan foam. Aroma: Floral, pine, citrus and soapy hops. Sweet malt. Taste: Nice hops combination. Not too sweet in the malt. Very balanced mouthfeel. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA Aug 8, 2008 Really one of the better ambers out there but I have to say still not the same as my Seattle Fav Mac & Jacks. Pours chunky amber with a giant head. that turns rocky. Aroma is piny hops. Flavor is slightly bitter, caramel sweetness and piny finish. Nice combo of IPA with an amber. Very good dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Aug 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep brown, viscus, with a thick creme colored head that laces on fade. Impressive hop aroma that chokes out any hint of malt. Medium body, with a strong hop bite that carries through to the finish. Piny resin is the distinguishing hop flavor. Very dry finish. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Aug 7, 2008 Interesting take on a red ale. Crisp malt base, caramel, with nicely balanced hops. Not too bitter, but good. pforei (338), USA Aug 6, 2008 Lots of malt and hops. Caramel, citrus/pine resingy thick and slightly sticky. Like a solid west coast IPA but withthe malt instead of hops tipping the balance. yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap at Solana Beach. Pours clear and golden amber to brown with a lacing light tan head. Aroma is mild caramel malty with a light hops note on top. Flavour is classic dense hops fruity flavoured and with a thick caramel malt base. Nicely balanced. hoplover (166), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Aug 5, 2008 Wow! This Amber Ale is my favorite! Iv’e tried a few amber ales but none with enough hops to balance the maltiness out. This great beer pours a beautiful, slightly hazy copper color with a tan fluffy head that sticks around till the fat lady sings. GREAT lacing. The head gives off an aroma of great citrusy Amarillo hops, (which I love). Also nice caramel / toffee malt aroma. The flavor is hoppy and malty. Much resin and pine flavor. A little earthy too. And oh so smooth on my palate. With a nice lingering bitterness. Wow! This is so goooood. Thank you Green Flash Brew for this hoppy amber brew.
The Lord bless the hop harvest! Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle. The pour was a vibrant copper with lots of red and some brown in it. Somewhat sticky lacing rings down the glass after an off-white head sits atop the beer for a bit. The aroma was lots of citrus and pine hops with some sweet malt cutting through. The flavor was fairly well balanced with the malty sweetness keeping the hops in check. The mouthfeel was nice and the finish succinct. A nice IPA.
