gsmitty80 (628), Washington DC, USA Jul 31, 2008 Good color and pour, taste was very mellow for a red with a bit of earthy smokiness to it that really lingered through the finish. Not what i look for in a red. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Jul 31, 2008 Updated: Apr 9, 2009Pours cloudy dark amber with ahuge off white head and plentiful lacings. Aroma is floral hops. Taste is sweet rich malts with a very strong earthy leather hop bitterness. Very powerful amber, would see this leaning toward the IPA camp. Nice beer will probably drink more when available. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Pours clear red with a massive off-white head. Grass, pine, and grapefruit all over the nose. More bittersweet than expected. Lots of resin and grapefruit with a strong bitterness from the Amarillos. Expected biscuit maltiness that did not overwhelm. I was happy with this selection. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 29, 2008 Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of fresh grapefruity hops and lightly toasted sweet caramel malt. Body starts with good fullness and drinkability of crisp citrusy hops and the perfect amount of toasty light caramel sweetness. Finishes smooth and bittersweet. A very nice amber. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 29, 2008 Wow thanks santa! great reddish pour with a perfect sized head. Aroma is citrus, some floral notes, maybe some fruit. Hops hit you first and then the smooth malt coasts across your tongue. Really a great beer. Smooth, balanced and really tasty. Indulgence (141), Ajo, Arizona, USA Jul 28, 2008 Today: Poured into tulip glass, the 2 finger head begins to build and the aromas are released, settles down into a creamy froth and lacing, cloudy dark reddish brown like a mahagony stain, very nice color, rich..., strong pungancy of pine, citrus and grass backed by some roasted malts, taste of bittered hops hit the tongue with a background of caramel toffee then the nice linger bittering finish, palate is smooth and tingly, but not harsh.... a nice quaffer. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottle. Amber/reddish pour with off-white foamy head. Diminishes into a slick of lace. Hops and spice on the nose. Hops dominate upfront, all bitterness in the initial taste then gives way for maltiness. Not balanced, but it does well not to be. Medium mouthfeel. Good beer, but not worth the $14.99 I paid for the six-pack. Better beer around for less. carboloader (318), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 28, 2008 Pours red amber with tall creamy head that lasts a long time. Piney, resin hop aroma detectable from a foot away. This one is amazing! Resin hops with a hugely bitter finish and a decent malt backbone -- one of my new favorites. Stupendous.
